Bengals select Cedric Ogbuehi with 21st overall pick

On Thursday night in Chicago the Bengals picked up what analysts have called a potential 10-year starter at tackle and Texas A&M picked up quite a distinction.
Cincinnati selected Cedric Ogbuehi with the 21st overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, marking the third consecutive year in which an Aggie tackle has been picked in the first round.
Luke Joeckel went second overall to the Jaguars in 2013 and the Falcons took Jake Matthews sixth in 2014.
A&M now joins Wisconsin and USC as the only schools to ever place offensive linemen in the first round of three consecutive drafts.
Ogbuehi's selection also marks the fifth consecutive year that an Aggie has gone in the first round. Von Miller went second overall to the Broncos in 2011, followed by Ryan Tannehill to the Dolphins with the eighth pick in 2012, Joeckel in 2013 and the trio of Matthews, Mike Evans (Buccaneers, seventh overall) and Johnny Manziel (Browns, 22nd) in 2014.
The streak seemed potentially jeopardized when Ogbuehi tore his ACL in the Aggies' Liberty Bowl victory against West Virginia, precluding him from participating in NFL Combine testing. However, he has progressed in his recovery and several teams saw elite potential that could be reached with added strength and some technique refinement.
Now, after the first day of the '15 draft, he'll be one among 29 Aggies currently on NFL rosters — and he'll reunite with former teammate Sean Porter in Cincinnati.
A&M senior guard Jarvis Harrison may soon join him. Harrison has been projected as a second-day pick and is unlikely to fall past the fourth round.
At that point, all five members of A&M's storied 2012 offensive line will be in the NFL.
