George Whitfield Jr. shares his Kyle Field experience, discusses 'Bama game

Key notes from George Whitfield interview

  • The Wisconsin/Ohio State game was incredible.  There aren’t many places that rival Texas A&M with the dedication of their fan base and their game day atmosphere, but the University of Wisconsin does a great job.  When you are going into Madison, you are going up against the whole state of Wisconsin.

  • This A&M/Alabama matchup is going to be a heavyweight fight.  What the Aggies have been doing over the years is outscoring teams, but now they have turned into a defensive threat.  A&M has answers on defense now and has a veteran quarterback that is a true leader.

  • A&M’s passing attack is going to have to loosen the Alabama defense up.  Coming out and setting the tone early with the pass is how they can be successful against the Crimson Tide.

  • Trevor Knight is a veteran college quarterback but he is still developing.  This team trusts him and he is a weapon because he is multidimensional.  He is the perfect quarterback and leader to go into Tuscaloosa and be successful.

  • A&M’s defensive ends are a different animal and are something that Jalen Hurts has not seen before.  They are going to have to get to Hurts early and if they can create havoc in the backfield, the Aggies have a great chance to dethrone Alabama.

  • Visiting the new Kyle Field was unreal.  Midnight Yell Practice was an amazing experience that you can’t compare to anything else.  The design is fan friendly and it is like a modern day Roman Coliseum.

  • The 12th Man sets the whole experience apart.  Kyle Field is one of those places in college football that presents problems to visiting teams and it is just a spectacle to experience.

  • If you are a football fan in general, you have to go and watch an SEC football game in Kyle Field.

I saw Wisconsin vs #1 Michigan in 1997 at camp Randall. Wisconsin was within 7 in the 4th quarter and the place was a mausoleum.

Pretty lame that day.

I don't get the Kyle field impression either. I saw the Oklahoma game at Kyle in 2003 and it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

How was the noise level in 2013 at the Cotton Bowl when A&M spanked the Sooners 41 - 13?

It was quiet at Kyle Field in 2003 vs OU since that game was in NORMAN. Maybe you meant 2002?
