Video Replay: Student Bonfire 2023

By TexAgs
November 21, 2023

On Tuesday night, thousands of Aggies gathered just outside of town to Burn The Hell Outta the 2023 Student Bonfire. Watch as the 2023 Stack goes up in flames. Joey Dollins '91 was this year's speaker.

Welp, what can we say? The livestream this year failed, miserably. So here’s the replay! We will have a full “from light-to-twist” replay available in the morning. Gig ‘Em!

Since 2014, TexAgs has provided the live stream with zero issues. Zero issues that the watching public could see, to be precise. Trust me, there is always an incredible effort behind the scenes to keep it that way. For the first time, there was an unprecedented issue in the studio that everyone's considerable efforts could not overcome. As I told Brandon last night, given the conditions over all these years, I personally consider it a testament to everyone at TexAgs ingenuity, resolve, and motivation to have gone so long delivering perfection before the first big issue. I look forward to their continued partnership in the big task of delivering Bonfire.

And since before the stream, Brazos WiFi has donated high-speed service to students working on Bonfire, and guarding Stack 24/7, even over holidays in case of delay. Every bit of full-HD - including in 2023 - has been delivered flawlessly by Brazos WiFi. Their signal never dropped last night. It's how the videos - feverishly edited on site - were delivered to the studio for publishing even while Bonfire burned. I try to mention Jim every year, always unsolicited. He's never asked for a single bit of the fraction of the attention and commendation he deserves. It's unfortunate that an issue unrelated to his service pops up in the year he does Bonfire the service of stepping in to add "co-sponsor" of the stream to his endless list of contributions.

I understand that the disappointment here is a product of motivation and love for the Fire. I appreciate the motivation. I know that the Aggies who built this Bonfire do, too. As they and all of us who built Bonfire well learned... if it was easy, anybody could do it.

Thanks to Brandon, Dalton, and everyone at TexAgs. To Jim and Lauren at Brazos WiFi. I am proud to know that Bonfire has friends like them. BTHOB 2024!
