Texas A&M adds former Purdue DL Nic Scourton via transfer portal

A local talent is returning home as former Purdue DL and Bryan native Nic Scourton (formerly Caraway) has announced his intentions to continue his collegiate career in Aggieland.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder becomes Mike Elko's eighth addition out of the transfer portal.

Scourton was a menace for the Boilermakers this past season. He registered 50 total tackles in 11 games while tallying an eye-popping 15 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. In his career, his 17 tackles for loss have resulted in 123 yards lost. He has batted down three balls and forced a pair of fumbles.

Simply put, he has been one of the top defensive linemen in the Big Ten for two years.

As a high schooler, Scourton was splitting time between defensive end and a stand-up linebacker for the Bryan Vikings. Even then, it was evident that he had a next-level burst, but he was sort of a tweener for college coaches in terms of his measurables at the time. He got to work in the weight room when he got to Purdue and added quality weight to his frame while maintaining that elite quickness.

Thus, he is emerging as an intriguing target for the professional ranks as he heads to College Station.

This is a big-time addition for the Aggies, and we'll have more coverage soon for our TexAgs Premium subscribers.
