TexAgs' recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger joined TexAgs Radio on Wednesday morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail surrounding Texas A&M.

Key notes from Recruiting Country

  • Friday was about as good as you could hope for. I was encouraged by the way they were able to rally. They had 14 signees. The Florida trio of Kendall Jackson‍, Solomon Williams‍ and Izaiah Williams‍ are huge additions. They need more defensive linemen and more bodies at receiver.

  • It was not a done deal until Thursday night that Dealyn Evans‍ was going to sign early with Texas A&M. Dealyn likes to troll. A&M getting him to sign was another marker of the impact Mike Elko has had in his short time. Texas made a late push without getting him on campus. If Dealyn comes in ready to work, he could be a really good football player. Same with Dominick McKinley‍ if they are able to close the door on him, which I think will be more difficult than Terry Bussey‍.

  • With Izaiah Williams, there are people who think he plays immediately. I am intereested to see how Collin Klein will use him. You flipped him from Florida. If you had gone into the DJ Lagway‍ sweepstakes in a better position, I think they could have gotten it done. It was a little too late.

  • Solomon Williams may be the best player they signed. When you turn the tape on, it's hard to ignore the physicality he plays with. It's elite. He plays with raw power. He looks like an SEC defender, and I have heard he is an outstanding character guy.

  • Nic Scourton grew up in Bryan and in College Station. Formerly Nic Caraway. He grew up here. I had him in class when I was a PE coach for a year at Oakwood Intermediate. At the time, Mike Elko and Tyler Santucci took a real interest in him out of high school.

  • Scourton is a local kid who has turned into a monster and led the Big Ten in sacks this past season. He was a name that, if he entered, we knew there would be A&M interest. Nic is not officially in yet. There is a 48-hour window. Schools can technically start contacting him tomorrow.

  • I have heard A&M is sticking out, and I think Miami and Louisville will be involved. That was yesterday. Now, there’s been 24 hours. I do believe Texas A&M will get an official visit that first or second weekend in January.
