Texas A&M adds former Utah OL Kolinu’u Faaiu via transfer portal

The Aggies have made a splash in the spring transfer portal today as former Utah offensive lineman Kolinu’u Faaiu (Koli, for short) has announced his intentions to continue his college football journey at Texas A&M.

His pledge is the second addition of this most recent portal window, joining Joshua Celiscar.

While playing for the Utes, Faaiu played in 16 games over the last two seasons, taking a redshirt in 2021, his first year on campus.

The 6-foot-3, 320-pounder started 11 games in 2023, with the final eight of those appearances being at center, which is where he figures to factor in for the Aggies. As far as that position, Faaiu was the most highly coveted target available in the current market.

By my memory, we have to have a very deep rotation with mostly juniors and a señor. How does this line compare to Ga's, Ala, LSU, and t.u.?

As much as we absolutely all love Foster, his actions demonstrate his priorities are with shot put, otherwise he'd be with the football team each spring.

I bet there aren't a lot of championship teams with part-time starting centers. It's the next most important position after QB.

So I hope Koli comes in and picks up the offense fast. I imagine he's serious about launching from here to the NFL. Hope whatever happens works out well for the team's success!

At the start of spring practice Elko was asked about Foster. He quickly and without adding anything said "He's track". That said it all to me. This is a great pick up for the Aggies.

I think taking this transfer tells you everything you need to know about the staff's confidence in the depth at that position. Hell, watching one quarter of just about any game would tell you the same thing.

I missed that. It appears that Foster is going to have to compete for the position in the fall.

Foster has tons of talent, but his snapping, I think, has caused more issues than anything else

When in doubt, stack up more talent than you can actually field

I can't remember which interview, but someone asked the players about Bryce before the Spring Game. They did well to avoid a direct answer and simply said they enjoyed having him around when he's present.

Why go all the way to the South Pacific when the same talent can be pulled from SLC? Heck it's already a hub for most major airlines.

Maybe Nabou is doing well but they have no faith in Foster, so they are bringing in depth
