TexAgs' recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger joined TexAgs Radio on Wednesday morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail surrounding Texas A&M.

Key notes from Recruiting Country

  • W‍hen you want to talk about Cobey Sellers‍, you need to talk about the characteristics of that position group. Look at all their position groups. What are traits that are important to this staff?

  • For the defensive back group, they are placing high value on speed. These guys can really run. One of Sellers’ attributes is mobility. He is a very good athlete at corner. He reminds me of Bravion Rogers. Both are good movers.

  • The more A&M watched Sellers... We know how important personality and culture are important to Elko. Both sides warmed up to idea of Sellers being in College Station. You are getting a really good player.

  • He is also very close to two prime targets in Max Granville‍ and Jonah Williams‍. Sellers brought them up to name by me. They are turning the heat up on both of them.

  • To let you know when Williams is on the priority list, they sent their entire defensive staff to see him. He has Oregon coming up. Oklahoma and Ohio State are real threats. A&M may be the biggest threat to those other schools right now. That is a 180-degree turn from where the Aggies were in November or December.

  • Jonah will take visits this summer. When you look at the defensive side of the ball, Williams is a huge piece still out there. How it could fall around him? You would be looking at an elite defensive haul.

  • I talked to Kesean Henderson‍, Josh Moses‍ and Mike Brown‍ this week. I am not trying to run down anyone on the previous staff. With the new staff, it is not just the visits. It’s the consistency in communication and messaging. The efficiency is high.

  • Mike Elko gets the big picture here. He understands the new world of recruiting. You know you can flip a roster in an offseason. It's not easy to do, but you can do it. It’s vital to team success. They are doing their homework on the culture.

  • The most important thing a coach can do is acquire talent. Talent moves so much now, and it is acquired semester after semester. You have to manage that. Elko knows there is not a grace period. He has talent on campus. He has to keep it to compete in a 16-team SEC.

  • Linkon Cure‍ would be an after thought to A&M without Collin Klein here. Linkon said he loves Klein’s vision for his role in his offense. I think A&M is in a great spot there. The Aggies will get an OV.

  • The next couple of weeks are slow, but we are keeping an eye on something. Jason Howell and I had said it would be slow, then Sellers committed, and we are watching something else.

  • Nicholas Townsend‍ is being recruited as a tight end, but he has a different body style than Cure. He is an extremely gifted H-back. I suggest you go watch his tape if you wonder why he is a high priority.

  • A&M is in a good spot with Townsend. I think it will come down to A&M and Alabama. I like A&M’s chances because of its proximity to home.

  • Trey McNutt III‍ will be tough. He will take an OV. He has ties to trainers in Houston and some Aggies.

There's a lot of things in play with Max. He told me his top three today. One is making a big push and has some creative ideas in mind for him. A&M is still a big possibility, but it's far from a done deal, even though he was Fonged to us.
