So I'm headed out West this week and taking some bros from fartass midland up to super fartass Lubbock for a rock show Tuesday.

Having only been to that toilet only twice in my life, do they have a northgate-esque area of bars/restraunts worth hitting? Guess we'll just end up at Chimys otherwise.

West Texas board gets no action. I'm guessing we'll just automatically get VD by crossing into the city limits.

Stepkids graduated from Tech within the last 9 years. That Chimy's has a few other sizeable bars around it on that same street across from the university (Broadway?).

Haven't seen or heard them talk about any other area. It does kinda feel Northgate-ish.

There are TONS of hotels in Lubbock now. You could hit up the hotel bars of all the Hampton Inns, Holiday Inns, Embassy Suites, Comfort Suites, etc.

There are some bars along Buddy Holly Ave. Tripple J Chophouse is good. Las Brisas on the south side is also a really good steak house. Lubbock isn't near as bad as it used to be.

I'll actually give a serious reply that Triple J is very good for steaks and beers. If you're more into wine and cocktails, try The Funky Door. Really good cheese sticks there.

Lubbock lake national historic landmark museum is pretty cool. They recovered a lot of prehistoric animal skeletons as well as a lot of Indian artifacts. If you are into rocks then you are probably into this.

Forget Lubbock. Take them snipe hunting in New Mexico.

Hobbs, NM is a breeding ground for snipe.

As you go through Post, there is a decent doughnut and fried pie place on US 84 where you can get some decent coffee. Or you can continue up the road to Muleshoe, home of former Oklahoma and current USC coach Lincoln Riley.

Jackson Brothers Meat Locker in Post has the best jerky I've ever had and killer summer sausage.
