Gonna be there for my 35th wedding anniversary. Feel like I know the mid-range restaurant scene very well, but never tried places like the Galvez. Any recos for a special occasion?

Vargas and R&P are solid recommendations. Wouldn't consider Miller's upscale.
Would add Shern's at Moody Gardens hotel and Number 13. And The Steakhouse at the San Luis hotel.

i think the list is Vargas, Rudy y Paco, Shearn's and Number 13 and honestly, they're all pretty great and i've never had a bad meal or experience at any of them

Just to update this list ... We had a very nice meal at Sugar & Rye over the holidays. It's got a Charleston/Savanah kind of vibe. Good service and good food.
