Howdy Ags,

Wanted to see about connecting with any Ags living in Boston. Looks like my family will be coming up for my 4yo son's next open heart surgery. He's got a complex valve repair needed and Boston Children's is a pioneer in valve repairs and has some innovative techniques not offered by the surgeon at our local center.

Anyone familiar or do work with Boston Children's? Going to need to try and figure out where we should stay (Ronald McDonald House or something like that). My company has an office in Boston so I'm checking with them too. Only been to Boston twice in my life, and never for something like this so just trying to get the lay of the land and see how we can make this work.

Wow, we'll be praying for your family...as well as your son.

We now live in East Tennessee, but I can share that you will be going to one of the best hospitals in the United States. My 24 year old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 18 months of age...and she spent a significant amount of time at Boston Children's. They were wonderful and got her to the point where my wife could successfully manage her diabetes.

I also have a 63 year old brother in law, who was born with several birth defects as a result of his mother taking DES (for morning sickness) during her pregnancy. Think of Thalidomide. He essentially 'lived' at Boston Children's for the first few years of his life. He's still alive and well. That said, even back in the early 60's Boston Children's was considered THE hospital for children.

I'm convinced you are in great hands.
