On Monday, Texas A&M left-handed pitcher Shane Sdao received the honor of being the Southeastern Conference’s Co-Pitcher of the Week.

It is Sdao’s first weekly honor of his career, and he shares the award with Vanderbilt’s JD Thompson.

Up until Sunday evening, it had been a rough weekend for the Aggies.

They had lost the first two games of a series in Oxford and had “TBA” penciled in to start the finale.

Sdao saved that, and moving forward, “S-D-A-O” will likely be written in pen when it comes to the A&M rotation.

And that’s a testament to the career day the sophomore enjoyed against Ole Miss.

With A&M desperately needing a win, Sdao tossed seven scoreless innings.

The Rebels tallied just three hits against him. They only had four total base runners.

Using a fastball-slider combo, Sdao ducked and darted Ole Miss bats en route to six strikeouts on just 87 pitches.

His seven innings set a new career record. The half-dozen punchouts equaled a career-high.

All of this in just his second start of the year.

Don’t expect it to be his last.

On the year, Sdao is 4-1 with a 2.03 ERA in 40 innings pitched. He has fanned 46 batters while walking just eight.

In SEC play, he is 3-1 with a 1.93 ERA and a sub-1.00 WHIP in 28 innings.

Whether out of the bullpen or as a starter, Sdao has transformed into a weapon for Jim Schlossnagle and Max Weiner as of late.

In fact, he has allowed just two runs over his last 26 innings pitched.

And now, he is the third Aggie arm to receive Pitcher of the Week honors, joining Justin Lamkin and Christopher Cortez.
