  • One more day until my mom gets here
  • Mr Awesome woke up with a not so awesome attitude this morning. Sorry, teachers
  • If it wasn't a work day I'd be tempted to add a little extra to the coffee this morning
  • Mom gets here tomorrow, so the great cleanup race starts this afternoon after work

Have fun out there!

My big kid turns 9 today. I refuse to believe it
He also woke up running 101 with a sore throat
Still cleaning from his party- man, kids can destroy a house.

Side note- if you are ever at a rained out party that spontaneously has to move inside, please tell your kids to not pull every single piece of clothing out of someone's closet in hopes there is more toys, that built lego sets aren't for playing (don't break them to see them break- lots of tears over lost hard work happened), that video gaming equipment isn't toys- so don't break $50 headsets, that juiceboxes should not be poured directly into other people's tablets/laptops, and that the host's living room is not the place to leave your dirty underwear. I legitimately felt like I was cleaning up after a college party, not a bunch of 9 year olds lol.

Here is my super duper procrastinated last minute (has flaws, and yes I see them) cake I made for his party

We drastically cut down on how often we had the neighbors and their kids over after I went back to work for almost that same reason. I no longer had the days at a time to clean up after 1 night of fun with friends. It was exhausting. They weren't that destructive though, so that really sucks for yall.
  • slept like crap
  • work again, but at least get to make a trip to the lighting place to make the day go by quick
  • soccer practice and taco Tuesday night
  • really need to bath the labs but not feeling it

Yeah, we don't do it often anymore. We used to throw big BBQs several times a year, but as kids hit about 6 or 7 it started getting bad.

Rented a 20' waterslide, which would have kept the party outdoors, but alas, the weather sucked and got cold and rainy

Probably to an extent. It was a mess (and still is). But not all the kids were like that. Trouble was there, and I dont think her kids destroyed anything.

I feel your pain.
My son had a birthday party at our house while I was out of town, against my wishes, in 7th grade. A bunch of overprivileged private school boys.
Smoke bombs were let off in the basement.
A kid threw a full Gatorade bottle at another kid and accidentally broke a large basement window. That kid's Mom was mortified and she offered to pay for the repair.
Another kid found a BB gun in the basement and he shot out several of our window panes AND a couple of my neighbor's panes.
It became a school event because one of the attendees (not my son) ratted out what happened at school. The school had a policy that school rules and discipline applied whenever any two school kids were together, even if they were in Antarctica. The Vice Principal (Principal in charge of Vice, as I called him) started cracking skulls until the kid who shot out the windows admitted to shooting out two (but only two) window panes. His parents, who were quite wealthy, NEVER offered to pay a dime, never apologized to us or to our neighbors, nothing. Amazing. My kid would have been over at their house every day hand picking up their dog poop, washing their cars, whatever needed to be done to get the message across.
Kids (and parents) suck these days.

Yep.

Even at 9 years old I knew that had I acted the fool at any time, but especially at someone else's home, there were going to be consequences that made certain I understood how poor of a decision I had made.

Pouring a drink on a laptop? Breaking headsets?

No way. My kids knew better and my grandkids know better now.

The parents must let their kids be little precious snowflake children who got a five minute "time out" after any misdeed when they were very young.

There have never been any corrections that made the kid think "this won't be worth it". Just wait until they can drive. They will be so much worse.

Went to TXB after my derm appointment. Had heard good things about their breakfast.

It was 10:10am. They were no longer making breakfast. You could grab some stuff they made earlier out of hot box display thing when you first walk in, but they were already prepping lunch.

I think both Adam Sandler and Michael Douglas would agree that breakfast should still be served until 11am. 10:30am at the very least.

Not sure where you are but I don't think this is right in Texas.

Doesn't even sound remotely logical. What if it's my own two kids and I feed them slop for dinner that doesn't comply with school nutrition rules?

Anyway, the kids in the original post sound like monsters who would never be at my house eating my slop ever again.

A private school, not in Texas. They can make whatever rules they want and the kids (and parents) all had to sign off on an extensive code of conduct handbook outlining this. It was all about conduct, not nutrition rules or anything.
The kid who did it was pretty much an *******, and the kid who turned him had something against him. I thought what the Vice Principal did was clever. He brought them all in at once, gave them all a piece of paper and a pen, told them to write down exactly what they did and saw that day, and that whoever had a story did not match up would take the blame for everything and suffer further punishment. Kids are idiots sometimes. What REALLY surprised me was the parents' reaction.

I wouldn't be against that code of Conduct. I imagine it allows them more freedom for punishing bullying, especially cyber bullying, as well as hazing.

The Vice Principal was very feared. Ex military guy. And it wasn't the guy's first rodeo, let's just say that.
