With the way America is headed what would be the best, safest, most conservative country to live in?

I've always loved the idea of just saying F it and moving away, especially once the kids are grown and moved out.

An independent Texas. We have HEB.

Not the answer people want to hear, but the answer that makes the most sense.

Really depends on what state or city you live in.

I work for with a lot of Japanese expats and like their culture more and more. In a lot of ways Japan seems to be more like America was decades ago except they are pretty much agnostic. Too bad I cannot speak the language.

There's plenty of places in the United States that are relatively shielded from the lunacy of todays world. Get away from cities.

Friend of mine moved to Columbia and loves it.

Frankly, is probably go for Mexico if I had to. I know a number of expats living in Yucatan and they love it. Brand new condo for $80,000. $20 doctors office visits. Family comes to YOU for vacation. Snorkeling every day if you like.

I don't know what it would be like to live there, but we LOVED Italy when we visited last fall.

Portugal is rising in number of expats, so is Spain. Southeast Asia will always be an option. It really depends on lifestyle and finances. There are a lot of elite visas available along with digital nomad visas if your company allows for work abroad, which most do not.

Especially when they see some of the gun control, taxes, and social programs of some of the countries already listed

Depends on what you are looking for.

If you are looking for retirement there are many options.

If you are looking for family continuity, much tougher

Eastern Europe will always be a war torn region.
Parts of South America are probably an option

Western countries are most likely headed to totalitarianism

If we go full socialist, Marxist, I imagine we take rest of world with us. Lots of those tourist places will dry up and not look so good.

Just make sure you leave your guns here if you don't want them heavily limited and registered.

Still WAY too many liberals living in Texas. Going independent won't change that.

From my minimal research.....

Europe - likely the most expensive option but has become very popular with other English speakers. Portugal, Spain & Italy are the primary "hot beds" at the moment with Croatia on the rise.

Asia - one of the cheapest options and beautiful. Philippines & Thailand are the popular spots at the moment. Language could be an issue as most Asian languages can be difficult to learn.

Central America - Costa Rica & Panama are US expat friendly. Costs on the rise because of the popularity. El Salvador is one to watch with their new president.

South America - Columbia is becoming quite popular. Have heard good things about Paraguay & Uruguay for quite some time. Argentina could be one to watch if their current president is allowed to clean stuff up.

North America - Mexico. Despite the cartels, I keep seeing claims that the country is safer than most of the US. Their government is encouraging all of their "undesirables" to head to the US and their GDP is on the rise.

Caribbean - Puerto Rico is a tax haven that doesn't require a passport. There are several other islands that offer a citizenship for $100k.

I think some of you need a stint in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan or any of those Islamic hell holes. You will begin to appreciate America more.

I could absolutely live in Cancun.

Last time I was there a few weeks ago I met a man that moved there from San Antonio. He grew up in Laredo on the US side and was actually a corporate auditor for many years in SA. He moved to Monterrey for a bit to take care of some family, got a good offer in Cancun, and left. He says leaving the MOnterrey/Laredo/San Antonio border areas in I think he said 2014 was the best decisicion he and his wife ever made. He flies back occasionally to see his kids but they generally just come see him.

I am a gringo but I do speak semi fluent Spanish and am a fluent Spanish reader. It would take some money because Cancun is not cheap, but it is paradise. Cozumel too.

It would be total retirement though. Mexico isn't interested in diversity hires. No way I could work there except for maybe teaching English.

Both got rid of their golden visas. So this will probably take a hit.

Bummer because I would be VERY interested in those countries to live.

I thought Portugal just revamped it with new qualifications, not totally rid of it. Not arguing, just my interpretation from my little research.
