Couple of days ago I preheated my oven to cook something and when I opened it up there was a freshly baked one in the bottom of the oven. That was a first.

I once fired up my gas grill and heard a blood-curdling screech. Opened the hood to a rat, launching himself to the ground, on fire.

I laughed after I changed my shorts.
I think I jumped a good 4 feet into the air.

I lit a gas grill one evening and smelled something funny. Opened the lid and something popped and came airborne at me. It was a small snake. I have no idea how it became airborne. Maybe the snake was inside the lid of the grill and it fell out/flew out when I swung the lid open?

Took a few beverages to calm me down after that…

Actually looks like a decent sized coral snake.

Barker is no stranger to snakes, including cottonmouths. Caught a bunch of species out there as a kid.

Since 90s fashion is back, I figured I may as well get a slap bracelet. What do you guys think?

I know what he is but letting the junior herps take a crack at it. He was super bitey and wasn't having any of my bullcrap.

Friend had this on her porch. Says it's a cottonmouth.

I'm not so sure.

If you're not sure that's a cottonmouth you should probably refrain from getting too close to any snakes.

With the darker shade ones it can be difficult to tell but the eyes, scales, and lack of vertical lines on the jaws are the other hints

Cream horizontal stripe along the jaw, eyes, and generally pissed off expression are giveaways too.

I wouldn't go that far.

Coral snakes tend to look pretty chill. So do hognose and rat snakes. I think most non-venomous snakes tend to look pretty laid back. Except for coachwhips, they always look pissed off.

But venomous snakes, at least those vipers in the USA have a generally pissed off countenance.

Just sent to me by a friend who says she was gardening and touched this before she saw it. It didn't bite.
