Is it worth it? It would be used for hog and coyote hunting. 556 is a hot/loud round so I am thinking the other animals will still run after the first shot, right? Is it just a personal preference thing for this round?

Suppressing literally every caliber is worth it.
But yes, pigs and coyotes will still haul ass like illegal street racers getting busted by the cops after you fire your first shot.
Thank you, schmellba. If only the govt would get their nose out of the suppressor business, more companies would get in the business. More selections, more production means lower prices.schmellba99 said:
Suppressed should be the standard, not the exception.
Outside of subsonic rounds, every rifle round is going to have the sonic boom from the projectile breaking the sound barrier. Which is why they are called "suppressors", because they make the gun less loud, not quiet like a silencer.
At the range, plinking, etc. you still need hearing protection. I've gotten where I wear plugs in the blind now as well, but I"m older and have tinnitus. But I tell you what, it is absolutely wonderful to not have to worry too much if you don't have your ear pro in with a suppressor, and it's great for helping younger kids get into shooting because of the reduced report and recoil.
