I enjoyed dat dog. It was in a weird place and the timing was bad. In my uneducated opinion, I think places like this would work better as a food truck and not have to pay crazy rent.

I know I've posted about Dat Dog before, but it was one of my favorite restaurants. We'd go there at least weekly, and the staff new my custom order.
I really think what got them was accessibility. They had a few spots out front, otherwise you had to park in one of the paid lots and walk.
Hopefully this new place has an alligator dog.

Dat Dog's problem was less location than the two hour wait to actually get your food.

Not sure how many hot dogs they are going to sell, but I bet they do a healthy merch business!trouble said:
Probably.
The pearl clutching on Rusty's post about it is very entertaining.

Wacked out Weiner looks more like a traditional hot dog than Dat Dog's more gourmet hot dog.
They really need to get do an endorsement deal with Max Weiner before he takes a head coaching job in a few years (knock on wood).

Per KBTX, La Bodega is going into the former Mad Taco location in South CS!
Be on the lookout for many old favorites, but also, we will be bringing in quite a few new items as the demos in S. College Station are much different than they were in Northgate.
Cheers
JMO but that northgate demo may be grown up now but that demo still wants SHAKERS!
Cheers!
LOL there can BE no La Bodega without the shakers! We would be crazy not to have some of the old ones and of course some new ones.
We are reading everything people are saying and taking note.

Funny you ask actually. Peter is my friend and brother in law. We've been having some conversations about using Mad Rita mix at La Bodega.
We can see some clear advantages to the cross branding as mad Rita is a consistent high quality product.

Or they could team up with disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner.

Any update on the HEB planned for Boonville Road near Miramont? Last I saw were articles from December.

Based on the fact that they hold onto land that could still be a few years away. They seem to be underperforming a bit in Houston compared to years past (relatively speaking) and that could be putting a pause on new growth. Since HEB's a private company and all information outside of market numbers is hearsay it's not really known what exactly is holding them up.
I wouldn't expect it to open until 2026 at this rate.

I think they have a 5 year timeline target to hit. Maybe 4 to 4.5 now. I wouldn't anticipate them to be too early to that target. Maybe beat it by a year tops. More rooftops planned for this side of town and money is expensive right now, so I am sure they are not in a rush.

The former IHOP location near Northgate is actively being marketed for a new tenant. I fully expected that IHOP left this location because there were plans to tear it down and build another mid-rise. So, I am surprised to see this.
