I'm making daily pilgrimages from Rock Prairie to tower point to see the progress.

Do us right, waterchick!

What happens if the water tower becomes self aware?

Still a better look than the "water-filled bagel".

Perhaps a Whataburger should go on the Whata Tower.

I like the flat gray look. Very brutalist.

waterworks (my old boss) used to describe water towers as "a paper towel holder with a bagel on top." So maybe the bagel color was his idea (joking, it wasn't).

I was shocked to learn it was built 40 years ago. I'd always thought it was built in the early-mid 2000s.

Drove by earlier. We should leave it in the "looks like wet concrete" primer stage and leave the wires so COCS can start up an adventure rappelling business.

Call it "Hullabaloo Rappel Rappel!"

Now imagine all of those are LED strips that can be controlled to display the different landmarks from the skyline and all of the proposed slogans over the past few years.

Boom.

Seems like the paint job for the Rock Prairie water tower was never completed. Tan on top, primer/unfinished grey "panels" on the bottom.

The lower portion of the new Rock Prairie tower is concrete and not painted, nor will it be. This saves dramatically compared to painted steel like the older Tower Point water tower being worked on now.

Respectfully-

I'm assuming that the concrete pillar will need pressure washing every few years but probably cheaper than a paint job?

Perhaps. I know the cost to maintain is substantially less. I'm nervously excited about the new paint job. I hope it looks good. Fingers crossed.

For $2 million dollars, it better look good.

The entire structure has to be resurfaced regardless of signage, logos etc. What once was the standard, steel, no longer is, because it's expensive to maintain. The signage is only being done because the riggings, equipment and personnel have to be there to resurface it for maintenance purposes anyway.

A mural of the anticlimactic College Station skyline is the best y'all could come up with ???

Looks like the design part of the budget was left off and someone's friend of a friend got the graphics job or the folks who designed the state flags of Delaware, Pennsylvania and Idaho were brought in as design consultants.

It looks more like a high school bumper sticker of the 1990's.

Even a simple maroon background with a big ol' COLLEGE STATION in white or just a plain solid color, would look more dope than some complex chaotic shadow of a skyline that looks not much different than any other small city.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Maybe when it's finished and we can all see it in the light of day you'll like it. I hope so.

Have a great Thursday.

Has to be that. The water is already 118 degrees F at the wellhead, before the cooling towers.

I actually liked the Wagner jerseys. New York has a very iconic skyline, recognizable anywhere. College Station's skyline is recognizable to folks from Navasota.

I had no idea Wagner was from New York good move on their part. Most everyone knows that water tower is in college station we can just look at the actual skyline if we wanted to see it
