wow it's already out?
Eric told me 'we are going to make a DIPA'
as well as an imperial porter (think gonzo), and a xmas beer.
This was sat.. he didn't make it sound like they already brewed it.

Their beers should be available on store shelves, in cans, around Jan.

62 - that's exactly what I thought when I read Petrol's post on Saturday.

I had talked with Eric about upcoming offerings and it certainly didn't sound like something was actually being shipped now!

i was at kroger, one that is pretty skimpy on craft brew selection.. well they had a bunch of folly packs by new belgium brewery. a quick glance and i wasn't interested.. some had somersault, some had the wheat beer.. then on the bottom i saw one that had the ranger ipa, hoptober, fat tire, and the new belgo, belgian ipa.

A pretty good score I must say so myself. Having a belgo right now.. very similar to raging *****, the only other belgian ipa i've had. I like the style.. it's more subtle than a normal big ipa as far as bitter is concerned, but still big hop flavor and smell. this one is 7%

BTW Pearl Jam 20, Cameron Crowe's documentary, was totally kick ass. It is on PBS on Oct. 21

Pumpkinator out tomorrow.

$8 a bomber. Guess I won't be enjoying too many :/

I think $8 is in line with current prices.

I had heard about the potential Pearl Jam brew, nice to see it's being released. They are distributing the beer to all current states they sell beer to so I'm loolong forward to grabbing one or two.

maybe I'm a poor, but I think $8 is at least $2 too high. on a $/Oz basis, a six pack would be $26. when this released as a DR it was 'only' $16-20 a 6er.

due to the scarcity factor I'm sure it will have no trouble selling out quickly. it is a terrible value though.

$8 is a really good price IMO. Imperial Stouts are expensive to make, they could have easily charged $10-$12.

For reference: Jester King Black Metal-$10.50, Avery Czar-$8.40, Great Divide Yeti(flavored versions)-$11.00(regular Yeti-$7.85), Clown Shoes IRS-$10.50

There is more pumpkinator being made than there was when it was DR, so the price imo is too high.

Widmer KGB Russian imperial stout - $7-8 a six pack. Best value out there.

Anyone spending the day waiting on the stock to arrive at Spec's?

Anyone who waits in line for a pumkin flavored beer deserves to be kicked in the nuts.

$8 for a limited release bomber is not out of line.. if you think so you haven't been buying good beer long enough. This IS the beer that is like 11% right? Find me another bomber of 10%+ for less than $8.

When I get a bomber, I have it in my head that it will be $10. That is the average, so $8 is less than that. You can't compare to 6 pack price.. little thing called economies of scale. You might as well compare a 6 pack to keg price and *****.

why can't one compare to six pack pricing? especially when this beer originally sold in a 6 pack, it seems reasonable to compare pricing. if anything bombers should be cheaper by the ounce because there is less packaging.

personally I'm not willing to drop that kind of cash on a bomber unless it was shipped over from Belgium.

that's not how economies of scale works.

6 pack is more beer than a bomber = cheaper per ounce. It's really simple.
If you don't want to spend $8 on a bomber.. well you just limited yourself to about half of the bombers for sale at my local specs.

gonna duck into Specs at lunch for shits-n-grins, if they happen to have some Pumpkinator ill pick up a bomber only in the fact i didnt try it when it came out previously.

Seeing as how some ppl say its decent, and others say its ass, im curious to try it for myself.

Definatley not trekking all over town like some people all day in mass hysteria trying to find it.

just cracked it open for the first time -

initial thoughts?

decent, probably worth the $8 because of the amount of flavor it has in it.

the pumpkin spices are almost too powerful. much more of a pumpkin pie taste than punkin ale (dogfish) or post road pumpkin (brooklyn). those are my two favorite pumpkin brews, and that doesnt change after trying st a's offering.

i'll probably buy one bomber next year, just to break up the dogfish/brooklyn love affair i have w/ pumpkin, but (as with any SA special/limited release) this is not worth the hype in my eyes.

i will say i'd like to try it on tap eventually just to see if it's any different.

been out this evening didnt put mine in the fridge yet.

I remeber hearing it was over the top pumpkin-y the first time, and like you i kinda dig the DFH Punkin' ... i have a feeling this Saint A will make the DFH the obvious choice.

Grabbed a couple bottles but havent had it yet, but id its anything like the DR9 it will mellow out over time and be much better.

It is hard to beat DFH Punkin though....
