New SA beer coming soon....
quote:
New beer that we are rolling out September 1. It is called Santo, and is unique in that it has its' own look and does not fall into the traditional Saint Arnold line up as far as appearance. It is a dark kolsch style beer. It will be available (all at the same time) in 1/2 barrels, 1/6 barrels, and 12 oz bottles (4/6 cases). It will come in at around 4.90% ABV.

Santo - dark kolsch? Does not compute. The kolsch style is all about lightness. And what are they thinking with this label? Weird one.
9:06a, 7/25/11
Santo means saint in spanish and according to the wiki 'El Santo' was a famous luchador, which could explain the label

Kolsch is a German style, so selling it with a spanish name linked to a wrestler only makes it weirder.

I'm sure Brock will explain the name and design in a press release....
I personally like that they are doing something different than the original design which is kind of boring IMO

Pre-bottling Sailing Santas sounds gay. i prefer to keeps it real.

i agree.
like i said, it's secondhand info, and i honestly cant imagine SA would waste their time doing this...
in other news, i picked up a bottle of this at Specs over the weekend...looking forward to breaking it out later this week:

speaking of Beer, TX:
any of yall read this story?

Great example of how ridiculous and outdated TABC is.

Yeah it's just ridiculous, good reason to support the new lobbying group "Open The Taps" to get things changed

Back to Shiner Ruby Red...now that I'm prepared for it I like it better the second go-round. Anyone else feel the same?

i actually bought another six pack of it last week and seemed to enjoy it better than the first time.
then again, i was outside in the 100 degree heat and the beer was cold.

That really sucks. I was really looking forward to that place. So, many great spaces downtown going unused. This would have been perfect.

+1, I wouldn't drink this on a regular basis but when its 100 degrees out, its pretty refreshing.

Isn't this just DR9? pumpkin imperial stout? At a beer festival last Oct., I remember the guy at S.A booth mentioning that particular DR would be a seasonal.
3:01p, 7/28/11
I'm guessing they are putting it in bombers so they can charge a premium. A 22oz bomber will sell for $5 but good luck selling a (non-DR) 6er for $16.
3:12p, 7/28/11
Even if it was in 6-packs, seeing as it's now now a seasonal in full production (and no longer a small, one time run DR), my guess would be it would be priced accordingly.

Imperial Stouts are expensive to make. Good luck finding a bomber of any imperial stout for $5.
