^Torchy's is replacing it. Stay tuned in six months for what will be replacing Torchy's. The location is cursed. Absolute worst in Houston.

And for what it's worth, Greatful Taco was good if a little overpriced.

Can't wait! May wait a week or two to let the traffic there die down, hopefully it won't get too bad.

Any promos they plan on running this week?

If not I'll definitely let the "new hip place" vibe wear off so I can get in and get out.

Yes, but invite only. You had to send in an email last week requesting an invitation to a pre-opening party. I received one ha ha ha!

From what I have heard grateful taco or whatever it was didn't shut down because it wasn't successful

Torchy's is the best taco place I've ever been to. Everyone one of their choices is delicious.

And I really doubt this place will struggle stay in business. When the one opened in Dallas last year it was constantly packed. Everyday at lunch the line would be to the door.

The "pre-opening" tonight is guaranteed to be a jammed packed clusterfyck. I'll pass.

Besides, I need to get in line early for the free breakfast Chick Fil a sandwich.

That location is cursed because of the parking lot. It is too small for a restaurant.

$3.25... for ONE taco... ONE TACO??? are you kidding me... sorry but its ridiculous to charge 3.25 for one taco....

there are tons of other places around houston (and in that area) that serve better tacos for a better price without have to deal with the parking nightmares

Ding, ding, ding. You could be giving away cash everyday at noon at that location and I would still groan at the thought of getting there.

The parking lot sucks. And it's in on that Shepherd stretch which is the second worst turn-in in the city (behind the stretch of Westheimer in front of Anvil/Catbird's).

As a frequent taco eater, I would normally bristle at the thought of paying 3.25 for one taco. Torchy's though, is worth it IMO. They're that good.

Oh yeah, and what about El Rey's parking lot on Washington? It's a nightmare and still always packed...

El Rey has the benefit of being on the corner of one of the busiest intersections in Houston. There's no holding up traffic if you need to turn in. It also has a drive-thru.

I'm a fan of Torchy's. Always go there when I'm in Austin. But the location could not have been worse. Couple that with the price and the abundance of good tacos in Houston, then there are reasons to be skeptical about the chance of long-term success.

Honestly, if I'm going to spend that much on a premium taco, I think I'm better off going to Tacos-a-Gogo or something.

I suppose I may try it, but I generally think most Austin food joints are overrated, particularly their mexican food.

Have been to Katz only once (and cant remember if i liked it or not) since i have lived in the tine 4 years. The only reason i know about the tacos at Tacos a gogo is because my neighbor goes there all the time.

you recommend going?? which one?? get what??

Wow thats insane...these things better be the size of a chipotle burrito.

A taco in Houston shouldnt cost more than $2 a piece

Does Tacos a Go Go still do the $10 for 4 tacos? Couldn't find that promotion anywheres.

Edit: for clarification purposes I'm asking for if this is still happening on Fridays

Depends on your tastes. Two different markets/demographics.

Torchy's : 100% Taquito :: Jenni's Noodle House : Pho Binh

Laredo Taco on Washington is a good lunch stop. $.99 a taco with a heck of a selection.

Chiloso's breakfast taco's in the heights are the best i have had personally.

This. I don't know how many times someone can come along to ripp the face of the building off to make it look different, but at least five different restaurants have been there in the last 7 years.
