They will be at least 25 before they have any chance of seeing a trial. Plenty of time to go out and commit more crimes once they are released on PR bonds.

If it's anything like they've done in the past, the Army's 160th SOAR Night Stalkers will be basing out of Tomball and conducting exercises near downtown and the Galleria. For good viewing, I've seen them stage near the Univision building at 610/59.

And of course they are claiming self defense.

He said he looked around for a gun and didn't see anything in the man's hand or on the seat. (The teens have since said that the clerk was also armed and are claiming self-defense in the shooting. The police have not said if a gun was found in the clerk's car.)

What I do know, those teens parents are about to drop 50k plus on just defending themselves with the grand jury, deciding if the shooting was justified or not. And it could cost more, depending on the lawyer you hire and if he or she presents a legal packet to the grand jury. It's not going to be an easy win with this case.

Besides maybe get a little over-zealous in his protection of a bag of chips. Chase them out the door? Maybe. Get in a car and chase them -- away from your store and the protection of your home base -- no way. Let it go. Live to see another day and take the dollar loss.

This was my thought as well. Unless they found a loaded gun in the clerk's dead hand (or very nearby), I'm not sure what defense you could have to shooting out of your car into another car and killing the guy, especially following the commission of a robbery.

Based on the complaint I read, there are at least two other eye witnesses to the shooting. Neither stated that the clerk produced a gun. Sure a lawyer will fight the testimony of the eye witnesses.

City of Houston to spend $1.7 million more to battle families of Harding Street victims
Quote:

Since then deaths of Tuttle and Nicholas there have been criminal and civil cases filed involving Goines and the City of Houston. On Wednesday, Mayor Whitmire and the city council voted to provide an additional $1.7 million dollars to Beck Redden, a law firm the city has retained, to help defend the City of Houston and former HPD Chief Art Acevedo. As a result of the vote, Houstonians are now on the hook for $2.9 million dollars in legal fees because of a bogus warrant.

All around unfortunate circumstance here. I use to go to him and he was very good at his craft. He was known nationwide as helping so many people that gave up on conventional medicine and diagnoses - where they felt they were at the end of a road in obtaining a cure of a condition. Call it voodoo or snake oil, but where western medicine didn't work, his recommendations / protocols did. I don't know the facts of the case and the evidence for a conviction must have existed, but overall this is a sad one for everyone, especially the children. Just overall terrible.

I did not know the following:

Thanks to a law passed by legislature, convicted child molesters who abuse young children must spend at least 25 years in prison, day for day.

Very good, but why do we let murderers have parole? While this man stole children's innocence, murderers steal someone's life. Molestation, rape and murder need to all be day for day.
