Done, and done safely are two different things.
Really, it would be great to have a wall of Tesla batteries installed and my trainer feed those things.
But, I don't have that kind of cash.

Light freezing mist/drizzle is developing to the NW of the blue line. With temperatures well below freezing some light ice may begin to develop on elevated surfaces #houwx #txwx pic.twitter.com/cB8uO5LBOr

It looked slightly foggy at US 290-Sam Houston Tollway interchange this morning around 6:30 AM. It appeared to be some small flurries when it was hitting the headlights and windshield.

Looks like it got a bit colder than expected this morning and now may not make it above freezing at all today?

The flip side is I'd wager most 3,000 + sq ft homes in Houston using gas to heat their homes instead of electricity to run an AC.....
How inefficient are those compared to an AC in Houston?Tom Cardy said:
All of the new construction apartments and cheap homes are using resistance heating, which just sucks electricity the colder it gets. Super inefficient.
Really frustrates me when my gas furnace pulls 500W max but I may have to deal with outages because someone's electric heater is pulling 10x that

AC works on heat exchange properties using a condenser. It's still a big power draw, but electric heating is an enlarged hairdryer and that combined with poor insulation usually means really high usage

The commute this morning was quite pleasurable with most of the lazy and frightened staying home. No issues whatsoever.
I was surprised to see some very light snow flurries once I got off BW8.

Well it was also a holiday (not for me) and a lot of people WFH Monday's anyway (me). So I imagine the commute would have been nice regardless....CDUB98 said:

We've got outdoor showers and toilets with the most ridiculous piping arrangement and they tapped in to it and put a hose line on it before the cutout valve so that is annoying. Really hoping the whole thing doesn't explode over the next 2 days even after we made our preparations. I should have replaced it all with PEX when I replumbed our garage apartment

We have a gas heater as well. It's quite nice to get a bill in the $40-50 range to heat our home for a month versus the $2XX bills in the summer to cool it.

Really light snow starting to fall in Oak Forest. Definitely not hard enough for anything to stick

Freezing rain here in Spring Branch. Falling like snow but definitely not flakes/flurries.
Kids didn't care too much though. They were freaking out

Wife tried to take the kids to an indoor trampoline place on the northwest side but had to turn around due to road closure near the beltway.

Transtar not showing much in terms of road closures, anybody seeing any issues w/ ice?

My nextdoor had people saying the tc jester bridge had ice and they almost wrecked. But haven't been there to see myself.

The right lanes of 59 south were starting to ice over at the Brazos River (SL/Richmond) a little while ago when I drove past. Had no other issues coming from the Greenspoint area through downtown into Richmond.

Why is there a roll of toilet paper in the freezer behind Mr. Bill?
Are we supposed to freeze our toilet paper in preparation for the next pandemic?
Can we freeze our bleach too?

Edit: Also, it looks like Mr. Bill has an icy, frozen weenus. Poor guy.
I've been looking at that too and wondering what that is, but I'm not from Katy so I'm not an expert.maroon barchetta said:Velvet Jones said:

Based on what I'm seeing here in Cypress, I don't think travel will be very safe tomorrow morning for large chunks of the city due to ice on overpasses. We got a pretty solid layer out here and I don't see it melting off today. We'll see.
