The war in Korea devolves into a deadly stalemate along the 38th Parallel. The war in French Indochina continues with new ferocity and the UK joins the atomic club. In contrast, peace with Japan and the world is solemnized--allowing it to control it's own destiny. NATO grows in membership and flexes it's muscles on land, the sea and in the air, while the steady stream of migration from East Germany to the West--becomes a flood. Finally, 1952 sees the start of a program to harness nuclear power for something other than bombs, and the US elects a new President.
