I took two of my daughters and 8 grandkids to the SMU game. It was the first football game for any of the grandkids. One of my kids heard them announce that Von was going to be signing autographs, so they all piled up at the front of the line. I shuttled water and DPs to them in the heat. My kids had gone to the bookstore and stocked up on things to get autographed.
When Von came out, my gang went nuts. They were actually second in line and started talking to him and having him sign caps, jerseys, and other Aggie gear. He as talking to them, signing all sorts of stuff, shaking hands and generally yucking it up with a bunch of kids. The sponsor had to come over and ask him to speed it up and just sign one thing per person. He looked like he actually was having a good time. He acquired a bunch of real fans that day.
