I have a hard time explaining it. If you didn't go to school here you can't understand it.

You have unfinished business in College Station Mr. Gates. I hope someday you will return and finish.

Thank you for your service Dr. Gates. I work in Koldus (in the Prospective Student Center) and see you coming out quite often. I will miss the occasional "Howdy" we share. I know you will do great things. Aggieland is a better place because of you. Thanks.

I know what he said in Texas Monthly but once away from TAMU, he will repeat those famous lines, he is a great man, and like most, I will support him in his new assignment, but we all have tried to explain it and have gotten alittle flustered when someone cant understand what we are describing and start making fun of our culture. That is when he will make the statement!!!!

Dr. Gates -
I am so proud to have been a student at A&M while you served as President. I'm even more proud when I look at that picture of you handing me my degree. YOU stand for what it is to be an Aggie and you should be an inspiration to all who walk the campus.
Although it hurts to see you leave, I admire your reasons for going. Thank you, Dr. Gates, for being such a wonderful President. You've truly set an example for all Aggies and Americans.
May God bless you in your new endeavour. Gig 'em Ags!

Dr. Gates,
I wish you a wonderful rest of your career, and whenever your term may end I want you back in Aggieland to sign my diploma. You are a great man who has benefited our university by leaps and bounds.
Thank you.

Dr. Gates,
Good Luck and Godspeed.
Any idea for a "sock" name so you can post anonymously again?

Thanks, Dr. Gates, for your great service to Texas A&M and to our nation. Aggieland will miss you, but you will always be loved here.
When the politicians turn on you and the media roasts you, you will always have your Aggie family who loves you.
Thanks and gig 'em!

This seriously just made my night.
Dr. Gates, Aggies everywhere feel proud when your name is seen/heard.
You'll be in our prayers as you serve our country.

quote:Not b/c of Dr. Gates, but in hindsight I wish I had purchased the photo from my graduation last December. I recommend you buy yours if you are still in school.
My children will hear good stories about that photo.

Dr. Gates:
Although my tremendous loss as an Aggie, will more than be made up by my gain as an American, I am still very sad to see you go.
You have made me so very proud of you, and have done so much for Aggies everywhere. Good luck at your next stop, I can't tell you how good I feel knowing you are in charge.
Thank you for signing my diploma and shaking my hand at graduation. I am so lucky that you were a part of my life, and now millions more will have the same good fortune.
All the best.

To be fair to Dr. Gates, he did say that he hated the phrase, but I think it was only because he had found something so wonderful and special that he wanted to share it with those who didn't and still don't understand, he wanted the world to know how special Aggies really are.
By saying this I know he truly is an Aggie because like the rest of us we'd love to share the "Spirit" but don't know how, for how do you really explain a feeling, good luck on trying to explain it Dr. Gates, but if you can't, we all know a phrase that might help out...

By the way,
Your response to Senator Kennedy's first question during the confirmation hearing was eloquent and moved me to tears.
Good job impressing the Senate. I have never heard the Senators on the Armed Services Committee be so complimentary.
