Hats off to West Ham, they played their tails off down to 10 men, they reminded me of our game against Liverpool when we were down to 10 and Liverpool just couldn't put it away. Chelsea looked good and aggressive until Enzo's PK got blocked at the end of the first half, that felt like the turning point. Lots of missed opportunities close to the goal, something they really need to focus on with this much youth. They have a lot of speed and I do think they're looking for guys but much like last season finishing is the problem. I didn't like the look of the defense yesterday, they need to be better.
Disappointing match, but these results are going to happen with a bunch of young guys getting used to playing with each other.
The ironic thing is I think a lot of how they're playing would suit Lukaku well. The wings are getting the ball into the box looking to get it to anyone that will take a shot. Sterling and Mudryk in particular were able to get around the defenders and turn the corner.
I hope Chukwuemeka's injury is less severe than it looks, but when a guy can't walk off under his own power it can be tough to be optimistic.

Im sure most of us already know this, but again, what a ****ing ********** this guy is. I mean its already pretty clear there's some kind of culture clash between English referees and their jobs (kinda like used to broadly exist more in baseball with umpires). Its pretty clear VAR doesnt work in England because the referees believe the game is all about them.

Ref has been absolutely out of his depth but this performance has been 100% garbo so we certainly didn't deserve a better ref. But completely different levels of physicality allowed, particularly in the first half.
We desperately need to find some consistent attacking patterns that can break down a low block. We desperately needed a strong start to the season - I'm really concerned about our mental state. Nkunku can't get back soon enough.
Hopefully when they redo the bridge we can get a wider pitch too. Wouldn't hurt.

I dont get why anybody ever watched mudryk and thought they wanted him unless they're like "this is real football!" and pine for the game to look like 20+ years ago.

Kind of like Pepe & Antony. Big clubs buy these 20 & 10 (goals, assists) wingers that play on a counter attacking club that gives them a ton of space to work 1v1. Then those guys come to bigger clubs and aren't playing in a counter system which negates their best assets (speed and 1v1 dribbling). I do think Mudryk can turn into a player though. Good win today. Sterling looked very sharp and was happy for Palmer to get his first Chelsea (and PL) goal. Tough stretch ahead so let's keep this winning momentum!
