Gio in for NF. He's got 30' plus stoppage to show he's not a hack.

What a goal by NF. Wood with a looping header. He's not even looking at the goal. Just heads it up in the air and it goes over the GKer and drops into the goal.

Full time scores

Forest 1-1 Palace
Sheffield 3-3 Fulham
Burnley 2-2 Chelsea
Luton 1-2 Spurs
Everton 1-2 Bournemouth

Sheffield were up 3-1 late, they really needed 3 points. Gutsy point for Burnley as they played 2nd half down a man. Luton could not hold on against Spurs, so Forest draw closer with the point they claimed.

Weekend was a busy one, and as was mentioned earlier, we have midweek games this week, so no rest for the weary as the final stretch is upon us.

Weekend Results

Nottingham Forest 1-1 Palace. Nottingham Forest moved out of the relegation zone after coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace. Jean-Philippe Mateta gave Palace an 11th minute lead, but Chris Wood leveled the match in the second half with a wonderful header to secure the point. Forest move above Luton Town, on goal difference while Palace are eight points ahead of the bottom three.

Sheffield Utd. 3-3 Fulham. Sheffield United threw away a chance for a rare victory as they let slip a two-goal lead as Fulham fought back to claim a late point in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Bramall Lane. A brilliant scissor-kick from Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz sealed the comeback after Ben Brereton Diaz had scored twice for Sheffield Utd. Fulham remain 12th with 39 points, while Sheffield Utd are still bottom with 15 points.

Burnley 2-2 Chelsea. Burnley showed their fighting spirit by twice coming from behind despite playing most of the match with 10 men to draw 2-2 against Chelsea in a thrilling match at Stamford Bridge. Dara O'Shea's late header claimed a point for Burnley after Lorenz Assignon had been sent off in the first half. Both clubs had chances to win late on. The point means Chelsea remain 11th on 40 points, while Burnley have 18 points in 19th, effectively five points from safety because of their poor goal difference.

Luton 1-2 Spurs. Tottenham Hotspur kept pace in pursuit of a top-four place after coming from behind to win for the fourth time in five home matches, beating Luton Town 2-1, with Son Heung-min sealing the victory in the 86th minute. The Hatters took an early lead through Tahith Chong but could not prevent two second-half goals from Spurs, as Issa Kabore put the ball into his own net to level the score before Son's winner. Luton drop into the relegation zone, below 17th-placed Nottingham Forest on goal difference after Forest's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

Everton 1-2 Bournemouth. Oh Everton, never change. A stoppage-time own goal from Seamus Coleman gave Bournemouth a crushing 2-1 win over Everton at Vitality Stadium. Bournemouth scored first in the 64th minute through Dominic Solanke. But Everton substitute Beto profited from an error at the back to draw the teams level. However, in the first minute of stoppage time, a cross from the right was somehow deflected into his own net by Everton captain Coleman, who was not under pressure, to clinch the win for Bournemouth and extend the Toffees' winless run to 12 matches.Bournemouth have 38 points in 13th spot. A joint club-record run of 12 Premier League matches without a win, leaves Everton on 25 points, three clear of the relegation zone.

Brentford 1-1 Manchester United. Brentford rallied after a stoppage-time goal by Mason Mount to claim a point in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United which helped their fight against relegation. The Bees had outshot United by 30 shots to 11 and hit the woodwork four times, only to fall behind in the sixth minute of time added on to Mount's first goal for the club. But United's lead lasted little over three minutes as Kristoffer Ajer struck from close range to earn a draw that takes the Bees five points clear of the relegation zone.

Midweek Matches
We do have some key midweek games that will impact the relegation battle as all twenty EPL clubs play a midweek match this week.

Tuesday
Newcastle v. Everton (1:30 pm, St. James Park, USA Network). Everton will be looking to end a 12 game winless drought when they travel to the Northeast to take on a Newcastle club who will be coming off a thrilling 4-3 come from behind victory over West Ham on Saturday. Newcastle are 2-2-1 in their last 5, while Everton are 0-3-2 in the same time period. Everton beat up on Newcastle 3-0 when the clubs met in December at Goodison Park, but those were better times for the Toffees, and they need any point they can get on Tuesday.

Nottingham Forest v. Fulham (1:30pm, City Grounds, Peacock). Forest will welcome Fulham to Nottingham on Tuesday, as they will look to improve off their weekend come back draw with Palace. Forest have claimed just 2 points from their last 5 (0-3-2) while Fulham have claimed 10 points over the same stretch (3-1-1). Fulham absolutely destroyed Forest 5-0 when the clubs met at Craven Cottage in December, so Forest will be looking to greatly improve on that result and get further away from the bottom three.

Burnley v. Wolverhamton Wanderers (1:45pm, Turf Moor, Peacock). Burnley are desperate for points as they try and keep sight of Forest and Luton whom they must pass to claim a spot in the EPL for next season. The Clarets have claimed 2 draws and a win in their last three, but Wolves have also been impressive as of late, going 3-2-0 for 9 points in their last 5. Wolves eeked out a 1-0 win when the two clubs met in the return fixture in December, so we should have a good match on our hands here.

Wednesday
Arsenal v. Luton (1:30pm, Emirates Stadium, USA Network). The Hatters will make the short trip down to North London for a match with the high flying Gunners. Arsenal will be looking to keep pace with City and Liverpool for the top spot, so they will want to discard the Luton squad as quickly as possible. The match in December between the two clubs was a classic, with Arsenal claiming a 4-3 victory at Kenilworth Road on a goal from Declan Rice in the 7th minute of stoppage time. Arsenal come into this match winning 4 of their last 5, with their only blemish being a 0-0 draw with City over the weekend. Luton meanwhile are 0-3-2 in their last 5 for 2 points, including their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham over the weekend.

Brentford v. Brighton Hove & Albion (1:30 pm, Community Stadium, Peacock). The Bees will look to build off their strong display against United which saw the Bees claim a point in a 1-1 draw. Brentford need more performances like that if they are to stay out ofg the relegation battle, as the Bees have just mustered 2 points in their last 5 (0-3-2) while Brighton are 2-2-1 in their last 5 for 7 points. Brighton claimed all 3 points when the clubs met in December on the South Coast, winning 2-1.

Thursday
Liverpool v. Sheffield United (1:30pm, Anfield, Peacock). The league leaders will welcome the league bottom dwellers on Thursday in a match that should be pretty one-sided. The Reds come in with a 4-0-1 record in their last 5 for 13 points while Sheffield Utd come in on a 0-3-2 run ver their last 5, although the two draws were in their last 2 matches. Look for the Reds to come out flying while the Blades will be looking to hold on for draw and a point.

Enjoy the Week.

This is the most exciting time of year for me. Love to watch the relegation battle.

I also really enjoy watching the promotion battles. Big win today for Ipswich over Southampton today. Probably don't have enough interest for separate thread. But exciting promotion battles in Championship, L1, L2

I love that playoff.

Norwich is coming on strong. I have to think that if they had Sargent all year they'd be close to an auto-promotion.

I was about to post something just like this. They have like 6-8 players that started the first game of the year and multiple new guys on loan that were supposed to be big contributors out wih injury. Not really getting any back til mayber later this month.

In related news, the two teams in EFL Championship most poised for the auto-promotion look like they will come out of Ipswich, or a Leeds or Leicester bounce back. The playoff for the third promotion spot will likely come out of the third of the aforementioned, plus Southampton, West Brom, and Norwich.

Not that exciting as 5 of those 6 vying for the three promotions, all but Ipswich, have been in EPL recently. I'm definitely cheering for Ipswich for someone new and Norwich (due to Sargent at Norwich).

There is time for one of several of the pack in the middle of the table to catch Norwich at 6 for the final playoff spot, but Norwich is currently 4 points clear of Coventry at 7. The rest of that clump within a point or two of Coventry includes Preston, Middlesbrough, and Hull. Middlesbrough is unbeaten in their last five matches, so that's one to watch out for climbing into the playoff.

Rotherham is certainly going to be relegated to the third tier of English soccer, League 1. Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield are the other two currently in the relegation positions, but Birmingham and Plymouth are only a point or two clear of Huddersfield.

Americans in EFL Championship with possibility of EPL promotion:
Daryl Dike (West Brom) - out for season with Achilles rupture
Josh Sargent (Norwich)
Haji Wright (Coventry)
Mathew Hoppe (Middlesbrough)
Duane Holmes (Preston)
Vaughn Covil (Hull)

Americans in EFL Championship likely safe:
Ethan Horvath (Cardiff)
Lynden Gooch (Stoke)
Reggie Cannon (QPR)

In truth, I'm not sure he was ever as good as we all thought he was. USMNT pundits and twitter love to crown guys as the next thing way too early, but often fail to put things in context.

Half his goals for Schalke came in that one hat trick game that made him famous. And Schalke were a really bad relegation team that year (and they still are bad - they're now struggling to stay in 2nd tier). The reason he got a chance at playing time for them was because they were desperate and needed to try something else. So while it looked like we had a Bundesliga player on our hands… he really wasn't.

Of course, hindsight is 20/20.

Relegation games today:

Aston Villa v. Brentford
Everton v. Burnley
Luton v, Bournemouth

Everton-Burnley is the big one of the day. With a win Burnley could make things really interesting. Everton need points to climb away from bottom 3, so big game for both clubs.

Well it was another wild weekend in the relegation battle, and then another wild Monday as the league deducted Everton 2 points for additional FFP violations. If I were betting, I would imagine the 4 and 2 point deductions for Forest and Everton will stand and that we are now dealing with the proper deductions we will see at the end at the season.

Weekend Results:

Luton 2-1 Bournemouth. Carlton Morris scored in the 90th minute as Luton Town mounted a thrilling comeback to beat Bournemouth 2-1 and maintain their hopes of Premier League safety. Marcus Tavernier scored seven minutes into the second half to give the Cherrries the lead, but the Hatters leveled the match thank to Jordan Clark and Morris's late goal gave Luton all three points, sending the Kenilworth Road crowd into delirium. Luton are now level on points with 17th-place Nottingham Forest, but trail on goal differential.

Everton 1-0 Burnley. Dominic Calvert-Lewin's goal proved enough for Everton to claim a much-needed 1-0 victory over 10-man Burnley at Goodison Park. Prior to Saturday, it had been 13 matches since Everton last won a Premier League match, with that victory coming back in December against Burnley at Turf Moor. Everton had luck on their side Saturday as Arijanet Muric's clearance for Burnley deflected in off Calvert-Lewin in the second minute of first-half stoppage time. Dara O'Shea was shown red midway through the second half and all but ended Burnley's comeback hopes, as the Toffees move up to 15th, 10 points clear of the 19th-placed Clarets, though they remain only four clear of the relegation zone after Luton Town's win over AFC Bournemouth. Everton lost two of the three points gained on the field on Monday when FFP penalties resulted in a two point deduction.

Aston Villa 3-3 Brentford. The Villians and Bees played to a back and forth 3-3 draw at Villa Park, with Ollie Watkins scoring twice against his former club to move within one goal of Erling Haaland in the Premier League scoring charts. Morgan Rogers scored his first Villa goal in the first minute of the second half to double the home team's advantage, but Zanka and Bryan Mbeumo both scored in a two-minute period to level things up at 60 minutes. Yoane Wissa appeared to have completed the turnaround for Brentford after tapping in a Sergio Reguilon cross, but Watkins grabbed his second with 10 minutes remaining to deny Brentford what would have been just their second away win of the Premier League season.

Sheffield United 2-2 Chelsea. Oli McBurnie scoredd a second-half stoppage time goal to rescue a point for Sheffield United to draw 2-2 at Bramall Lane with Chelsea. Chelsea looked all set to register a potentially crucial win in the hunt for a European place when Noni Madueke gave the Blues the lead in the 66th minute, after Jayden Bogle had levelled the match following Thiago Silva's early opener. Yet Chelsea's inadequacies were again put on display as they failed to clear their lines in the third minute of added time, enabling McBurnie to turn home from close range and send the home fans into hysteria. The Blades remain bottom of the standings, nine points from safety.

Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Nottingham Forest. Tottenham Hotspur moved into fourth in the Premier League table following a 3-1 victory over relegation-battling Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Second-half finishes from Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro secured the win for Spurs. Chris Wood had leveled the match for Forest in the first half, folowing Murillo's earlier own-goal that had given Spurs the initial lead. Goal differential is all that keeps Forest out of the Bottom three, as they are level on points with 18th placed Luton.

Far be it from me to derail this thread but didn't think a Championship promotion thread was warranted so thought it was best placed here...

3 teams are fighting for 2 automatic promotion spots and only 1 point separates the 3.

Team. Matches Played. Points. Goal Differential.
1 Leicester 41 88 +42
2 Leeds 42 87 +43
3 Ipswich 41 87 +32

Leicester suffered a poor loss yesterday to a not very good Millwall opening the door for Leeds and Ipswich. Leeds did not take full advantage as they only managed a draw at home against Sunderland. Ipswich play Watford tonight. Both the PL and Championship with very close races at the top of the table.

Interestingly, it is very possible that all of last year's promoted teams go immediately back down and all of last year's relegated teams go immediately back up (Southampton are currently 4th with an outside chance at top 2 and would be a favorite in the promotion playoffs). Pretty sure that has never happened before. Ipswich is the only one with a decent chance of keeping this from happening. They have a good chance of making successive promotions from League 1 to the PL in 2 seasons.

Always fun to see consecutive promotions. Ipswich wouldn't be the story that Luton is/was, but they haven't experienced success at this level in decades. Fun to see new clubs in the PL.

Former Man United assistant Kieran McKenna is their head coach will also doesn't hurt my opinion of them.

Key Weekend Matches

Saturday

Brentford v. Sheffield United (9am, Gtech Community Stadium, Peacock). Bees can get out of relegation battle with another couple wins, and the Blades need to essentially win out.

Burnley v. Brighton (9am, Turf Moor, Peacock). Burnley trail 17th by 6 points, so wins are essential. Home games against mid level clubs are now must wins.

Man City v. Luton (9am, Etihad Stadium, Peacock). City are looking to claim a title, and Luton will be looking for a point. Could be a tough weekend for the Potters.

Nottingham Forest v. Wolverhampton (9am, City Ground, USA Network). Forest need to win home matches against mid level clubs like the Wolves, should be a chance to put some space between themselves and Luton.

Monday

Chelsea v. Everton (2pm, Stamford Bridge, USA). A point would suit Everton just fine as they travel to London for a Monday night match up.

Enjoy the weekend!

I'm waiting for Everton to stay up by a point on the last day of the season only for the FA to announce another 2 point deduction about an hour after the match is over.

Because like Alfred said to Bruce, some men just want to watch the world burn.
