On paper this deal for Shota seems like a bargain at less than $15M per year (prior to potential option being picked up). Obviously hard to project but he had similar numbers to Senga in Japan and that seems to be working out well for the Mets after one year.

Hoping they can figure out a compromise to bring back Belli and work Hoskins into the fold. I wouldn't be opposed to Chapman either but don't want to overpay there.

In reply to AgRyan04 Wasn't trying to call you out or anything. The good news is that metastatic prostate cancer has a better prognosis than metastatic colon cancer which was why I double-checked the news bubble I had seen before your post. But it's still metastatic disease and a tough diagnosis.

If they could get him and Chapman (prefer higher annual dollars, shorter commitment) on relatively modest deals and get a reliable RP, that would seem like a productive offseason.

In reply to Mike Elko Problem is they didn't address their bullpen at all this offseason in any impactful way. Do you really want Mark Leiter Jr closing? Until Merryweather gets healthy, the bullpen is not good.

I wouldn't mind them giving some opportunities for Ben Brown to close or finish games off.
