It's pretty simple: You can't judge a team's tourney performance on which round they lose in. Let's say A&M lost to UConn in the first round by 4 points, but then Texas plays them in the Elite Eight and loses by 20. You can't say Texas did better in the tourney just because they got to the Elite Eight while A&M lost in the First Round. NC State proved itself a Final Four beast.

Yes, but that #11 team went to the Final Four. A lot of #1-2-3-4-5 seeds didn't make it that far.

That's why you play the games. You prove it on the court, not by reputation or how much money your team brings in.
