.....and Vandy at #11. They'd be Top 5, hadn't they been swept by the ol' Maroon & White. Much like football, every other weaker conference (like "The Twelve") benefits from the SEC beating up on each other.

The bolded part - you are correct - this year there are 4 to 5 SEC teams that are legit national title contenders and another 4-5 really good teams behind them. Big 12 - 18 and 19 - 3 others are meh, the rest are .500 or below. Not what I would call a "battle for supremacy".
