Block practice is okay when you are oreally working on a specific swing/grip idea.By block practice I mean something similiar to hitting through your bag.I.E. 10 wedges , 10 9 irons , 10 8 irons , 7,6,5, hybrids , 3 wood , driver , etc.
But it helps at times to go to the range and practice like your on your course.
#1 Driver , then judge the success and hit the next club that you would have after that tee shot.Keep repeating as if you are playing every hole and kind of keep your score.It's fun , good practice and get's you more ready for the real thing.
