He has conditional status on the KF (and Latin tour), but yea, not exactly sure what that looks like. I'm sure he will get plenty of starts on the KF, and I figure he may try and Monday qualify some too.

In hindsight he probably should have gone KFT route instead of all the exemptions. But can't blame him either.

I had the same thought but how do you not play on the Big Tour every chance you get. You see KFT people do it all the time even though it reduces their chance of getting the card for the next year.

The University Program for the PGA is great but rather than give them status for the tail end of the year they graduate, shouldn't it be status for the next full year?

yeah it makes 0 sense Aberg got PGA tour status this upcoming year (he won so doesn't matter) but the others couldn't get KFT status for a full year

This is what Sam received for his PGA University ranking

Eligible players finishing 1st-5th in the final PGA TOUR University Ranking will:
1. Earn Korn Ferry Tour membership for the then-current season and will be exempt into all open, full-field Korn Ferry Tour events beginning the week following the conclusion of the NCAA Division-I National Championship through the end of the current Korn Ferry Tour regular season;
a. Earn exempt membership on PGA TOUR Americas Segment I (through the Latin America Swing) the season following his finish in PGA TOUR University.
2. Have no limit to the number of PGA TOUR events he plays as a nonmember in the then-current season and the following season;
3. Have no limit to the number of PGA TOUR sponsor exemptions he may receive in the then-current season and the following season; and
4. Be exempt into Final Stage of the current season's PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry.

Aberg did get full PGA status for this year from this program but as pointed out, his win gives him 2 years now and unless things change, he doesn't have to worry about his card for a long time. That guy will be winning a few majors and a number of regular events.

Phillips with 6 birdies today on his way to a 4 under round.

Earning a paycheck to start his PGAT career has to feel good

Ryan needs to go 2 under on the back nine to make the cut.

And Cam needs to go -2 in his last 5 to make it. Consecutive bogeys to start the back nine hurts.

If players take NIL money are they still considered amateurs?

In most cases, they are still amateurs if they take NIL money.

Palmer is in the field for next week's American Express on a sponsor exemption. It will be interesting to see how many tournaments he gets to play in this season on conditional status (probably quite a few).

Does he still have his one year lifetime earnings exemption available? He is 33rd with $33.5mm so he is within the top 50.

Yes. He probably wants to save it until it is absolutely necessary, though. He has 2 years left after this season before he can go the Champions Tour, so he'll probably see if he can get his full card back this year for next season, then perhaps use it the following year for his final season if needed.

If he has to use it next year, there's a good chance that's he's tourless for his age 49 season (assuming he doesn't want to play on the KFT for a year at this point in life with his career earnings).

And he played the hardest of the 3 courses today. Too bad he didn't birdie a par 5. He could have had a phenomenal round if he played those better.

Burgoon is looking good, Palmer on the cut line, Champ gonna miss the cut. If the first two can go low, that would be nice.

Each of the tournaments so far this season have guys starting on 1 and 10 even on the weekend. Why this change? If they have the top 65 and ties in the field on the weekend, doesn't that still give them ample time to get through 18 holes?

They have to in order to get everyone through given the limited daylight this time of year.
