Before Tuesday, Wacha had not completed a nine-inning game since his junior season at Texas A&M in 2012.

His performance was just dominant too in many ways. He touched 98+ in the 9th inning and his last pitch was a strikeout on a 97mph fastball.
He worked in a lot more cutters then normal and a very sharp curve ball throughout the game.

Wacha pitched a shutout today for the Cards. 8 K's. Plus he had a hit and drove in a run.

I checked the stats for Daniel Mengden and it says he hasn't played in Triple-A since May 23. Any reason why? He is still active according to his stats.

Wacha (7-3) is having a very good season. Probably the second best of his young career. Should get a nice pay raise after the season.
he's been outstanding in July.

Sounds like he's hurt.

EDIT: Didn't mean the thumbs up. I was thinking about the Birk promotion when I clicked it.

Yes, but he had a really rough/meh June. ...to the point that he was in real danger of losing his rotation spot if he only had one more bad outing.
But whether it was a mechanical fix, or a mental one, he's pitched very well since that wake up.

Kyle Martin just made his MLB debut with Red Sox. Pitched the 7th vs Blue Jays. Strikeout, ground out, walk, fly out.

I wonder if recruits are noticing the number of pitchers that Rob has coached that are making the bigs?pdaddy said:

Good thing that Martin was able to over come the many changes RC tried to make to his pitching form from year to year.

Watching Ryne Birk play for the Hooks right now. 0-2 so far but some good, productive at bats.

K-Mart reaching the bigs is a remarkable story. It didn't seem particularly likely throughout his A&M career

After a very rough time adjusting from the bullpen to the starting rotation this year, Andrew Vinson has managed back-to-back starts of 5 innings with no runs. For the first time since his first start, his ERA dropped below 5 which is a huge accomplishment considering how high it got.

milb.com is saying that Boomer White is suspended. I can't find any news releases regarding why.

Hmm. I wonder why. He doesn't seem like a player that would be suspended

Justin Ruggiano was released this week by the Giants. I wonder if anyone will sign him to fill a hole for the rest of the season.

Nick Banks batting .235 and has a .273 OBP in A ball in Nationals organization.
