After not playing in almost 2 weeks, the Braves finally optioned Shewmake back to AAA. I think it is a little criminal to not have sent him back sooner if they weren't going to play him at all.

Nick Banks and Kasey Kalich have picked up with the Lake Country Dockhounds and the Cleburne Railroaders of the American Association respectively.

Read or listen to John Feinstein's book, "Where Nobody Knows Your Name".
It'll give you some good insight on Triple A baseball. Delves into going up and down. Good read.

It's been a busy offseason for Aggies in the Major/Minor Leaugues:
There are a lot of Aggies poised to have their MLB debuts this year with Kolek, DeLoach, Christian Roa, and Michael Helman. Helman would need to be added to the 40 man roster first.
If anyone is curious, the most Aggies to make their MLB debuts in a single season is 4 in 2000 when Kelly Wunsch, Matt Blank, Kevin Beirne, and Jason Tyner made theirs. 1991 and 2016 both had 3 Aggies debut with Chuck Knoblauch, Ever Magallanes, and Scott Livingstone debuting in 1991 and Tyler Naquin, Ross Stripling, and Daniel Mengden debuting in 2016.
- Michael Wacha signed with the Royals
- Ross Stripling was traded to the Athletics
- Braden Shewmake was traded to the White Sox
- Zach DeLoach was traded to the White Sox
- Mitchell Kilkenny signed a minor league contract with the Astros
- Stephen Kolek was taken in the Rule V draft by the Padres
- John Doxakis was taken in the 2nd phase of the Rule V draft by the

Except for Kilkenny all of the above players will be in spring training in the Phoenix area. First spring game is in just 12 days.

Just looked at the box for Wachas most recent Spring Training outing. Only went an inning. 7 pitches, all strikes, 2Ks. Guess they saw what they needed because they pulled him. So excited to watch him in KC this year.

so if the expected call-ups happen...it means that Childress' 2018 and 2019 teams had 4 or 5 future major leaguers on their rosters. Could even reach 6 when Lacy returns.
right now:
2018 - Shewmake, Kolek
2019 - Shewmake, Miller
anyone else?

I'm probably the only White Sox fan here, but Braden Shewmake made the opening roster for the Sox.
The outlook is pretty dismal for this season, but it's nice to see him on the roster! Looking forward to seeing him play.

The whole Lacy saga has been really confusing. I live in the greater KC area and his entire career has been shrouded in mystery. A full 14 months with zero information about him from the organization at all until the recent TJ information.
I think that Royals farm system is a perfect example of why kids may be better at a top flight D1 school over 5-10 of the MLB farm systems.

The reason I had seen for him not pitching in 2023 was that he wasn't fully healthy recovering from back issues, so he spent entire 2023 season at their spring training complex working out and healing.

Is it because he now has more leverage with his next contract and may leave SD?
I know clubs sometime wait to call up prospects in order to get an extra year out of them.

Kolek is required to remain on the Padres MLB roster the entire 2024 season or he will have to be offered back to the Mariners due to the Rule V draft rules which is how the Padres acquired him.Schrute Farms said:

All minor league assignments are now current. If you can make it to a Stockton Ports game, you have the chance to see 3 Aggies playing.
