And yet they are 10-5 in the SEC and are in 3rd place with 4-5 more wins, and this team has a chance to be a top 8 seed, 2-3 wins, and they are for sure a top 16 seed

I agree they are well in position to host a regional and in the discussion for a top 8 national seed. My concerns and comments are about staying in the national seed conversation. This is a good team without a doubt. The longer the play at home the better their chance to reach OKC

I think they need 6 to feel safe. 5 to be on the edge. I don't think 4 more wins gets a top 8 seed. 6 is very do able if they get back to how they were playing before LSU

There are 6 teams right now I feel are almost locks for a national seed. OU, sip, Tenn, Uga, Stanford, LSU.

That leaves maybe 2-3 spots being fought over by about 10 teams. Right now I think Texas A&M is on the outside looking in, and it's going to take a statement over the next 3 series to move into serious consideration. Unfortunately every single team left on the schedule will have a lower RPI ranking than the Aggies, so from here on it's going to be about the volume of wins and making a statement to the committee. Winning the Alabama or Florida series would help, as would winning the SEC Tournament. Sweeping Ole Miss and not losing ANY of the midweek games. We have some stinkers coming up like A&M Commerce that will damage the RPI even if we win by 100 runs. Pray for rain that day, honestly.

At one point the committee stuck to the RPI to seed the tournament, now it's used as a guideline, albeit a very important one.

There is a lot of softball to be played, but the team seems to be drifting a bit. This is where we see how good this staff is at refocusing the team for the stretch run. We saw some of it in this series with some notable absences in the lineup.

Right now still 8 in rpi. Moved up to 10 in softball America. Will see in the other polls. Need to get the road record above .500 to have a shot. Which is why I think 6 is the number. Win the Bama series, sweep Ole miss and win 1 at Florida plus the 2 road midweeks left and they have a pretty impressive resume. They may need to win the Fla series though if the last spot comes down to a&m and Florida which it might.

This year we might actually avoid the Austin/Norman postseason trip for the first time in a long time. I think we've only had 2 years where we weren't in either place to end the season in the last 12 years.
