great come-from-behind win and great relief pitching
the Tide had their chance, but overwhelmed by the A&M bats
could not even force Aschenbeck into game

So in a perfect world even with a double header you only want pitchers to throw in game conditions once a day.
It's been while since I had to worry about managing innings, but it used to be you didn't want to get a guy up, warm up, go into a game and throw again that day. That's why you see the electric pulse machine on CC in the dugout. He should be done for the day and getting ready to be able to pitch tomorrow if needed. It's really bad for arms.dermdoc said:AgLA06 said:A lot. Double headers are hard on pitchers and routines. And routine is key for high leverage guys.dermdoc said:AgLA06 said:With a 5 run lead, no reason to use him game 1 with Sdao and CC giving us good innings.dermdoc said:BadMoonRisin said:
Ashenbeck is in the dugout so he wont pitch game 2. We still have a lot of arms. We also had all of our starters last weekend go 7 innings so they got a ton of rest. Should be fine.
Umm we are sitting with the Aschenbecks and he is ready to go game 2 today.
Going to need to go a little deeper in the pin than normal with 3 games in 30 hours and it's a luxury to hold your closer until game 2 and 3.
What difference does it make? Actually one day rest might be worse.
I actually think on the road it helps the visitors. Takes away a lot of home field advantage.
Serious question, say Evan pitches ten pitches in this game and then comes back in the second game? Do you think he would be more effective waiting a day? Seems the same to me

I know Prager was off those first few innings, but is there a universe where we put him back out there? He only threw ~50 pitches right?powerbelly said:
The way our bullpen fell today in game 1 was perfect. CC can most likely come back Saturday if needed and Sdao regained his early season form.

He was doing good. 40 pitches in and was pulled. Schloss talked to him for a minute explaining something then pulled him.

Heckuva job by CC and Shane to keep us in this one. Could have gotten ugly but they shut that nonsense down.

CC 43 pitches, 10 batters, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 ER
Shane 50 pitches, 13 batters, 3 H, 0 BB, 5 K

Just for the record, I logged on to TexAgs for just a minute around 12:30, and then realized I had misread the schedule - I thought it was a 6 or 7pm start. Anyways, the score had just gone to 0-5.
Thus, I feel it was my righteous living that resulted in the next 10 runs to the Good Guys.
