Interesting. No night game?

Trying to beat the rain forecast for tonight. Heavy thunderstorms after 6 p.m. their time. So we have 3 hours.

did Bama pitch backwards in the opener?

(with their starter)

Saturday guy threw game 1
The score was lopsided, but I wouldn't say they threw the game.

Let's just run rule them in 7 and not have to worry about it.

How many innings have to be played before they can end it and hold the result?

I think 5, and the teams have to have played the same number of innings?

Don't think they end it early except for getaway day. It would continue tomorrow, I believe.

Sounds like a great excuse to run rule 'em.

Are these guys starting to toy with SEC opponents? Let 'em their hopes up before crushing them.

Bama's first pitcher was really good.

Heckuva job by CC and Shane to keep us in this one. Could have gotten ugly but they shut that nonsense down.

Final lines on each:
Prager 66 pitches, 18 batters, 7 H, 2 BB, 1 K, 4 ER
CC 43 pitches, 10 batters, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 ER
Shane 50 pitches, 13 batters, 3 H, 0 BB, 5 K

That Sdao stat - 13 batsmen…5 K's…..wow…..
Me likey…..

Ashenbeck is in the dugout so he wont pitch game 2. We still have a lot of arms. We also had all of our starters last weekend go 7 innings so they got a ton of rest. Should be fine.

Umm we are sitting with the Aschenbecks and he is ready to go game 2 today.
With a 5 run lead, no reason to use him game 1 with Sdao and CC giving us good innings.

Going to need to go a little deeper in the pin than normal with 3 games in 30 hours and it's a luxury to hold your closer until game 2 and 3.

What difference does it make? Actually one day rest might be worse.
A lot. Double headers are hard on pitchers and routines. And routine is key for high leverage guys.

I actually think on the road it helps the visitors. Takes away a lot of home field advantage.

Serious question, say Evan pitches ten pitches in this game and then comes back in the second game? Do you think he would be more effective waiting a day? Seems the same to me
It's been while since I had to worry about managing innings, but it used to be you didn't want to get a guy up, warm up, go into a game and throw again that day. That's why you see the electric pulse machine on CC in the dugout. He should be done for the day and getting ready to be able to pitch tomorrow if needed. It's really bad for arms.

So in a perfect world even with a double header you only want pitchers to throw in game conditions once a day.

I defer to your experience. But Cortez threw a lot of pitches and I do not think can go tomorrow.
Seems very different than Evan throwing say 10 pitches. And he was up and warmed up.

If the game is suspended for weather and not restarted today it will be resumed Saturday making the scheduled one a 7 inning game.

I just read through this whole thread. I've been watching the game for most of it and there are some people on this thread earlier that just need ass whoopins. Seriously, miserable people just looking to Dog on this team.

I haven't read through the whole thread, barely had time to log-in for the 8th inning, but...

What kind of brain dead idiot dogs on the #1 team in the nation, who's 34-4 over all, an incredible record of 25-1 at home, 12-4 in conference play, and a couple of guys challenging for most home runs in the season. There are number of various stats that are also amazing on this squad.

Actually, I guess I answered my own question.

Got to watch up to the grand slam on the tarmac. Decided to pay for WiFi on my United flight. Glad I did. But WiFi went out in the top of the ninth. Glad I can read the recap on TexAgs. Great game Ags!

I would think by now, this team has beat the Hell out of BAS!

Last 3 games......

down 4-0 to Vandy and win 9-4
tied 3-3 with AF and run rule them in 7 15-5
down 5-0 to bama today and score 9 runs in 5th and 6th and win 10-5

Seems like a different hero or two most every game!

The countdown that has led us to a 34-4 overall record? That countdown?
