Texas A&M has added to its 2024 high school class today with the signature of Fort Bend Ridge Point WR Ashton Bethel-Roman‍.

The longtime Arkansas pledge and eventual signee made his announcement via social media. Overall, Bethel-Roman is A&M's 17th prep player in this cycle.

Bethel-Roman almost chose the Aggies in the early signing period after he took a late official visit to College Station. However, he chose to stick with his commitment and signed with the Razorbacks. Shortly thereafter, then Arkansas WR coach Kenny Guiton was let go by Sam Pittman. It was at that time that the talented wideout began the process of getting out of his letter of intent and turned his eyes toward Aggieland.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder committed to the Razorbacks in July, but he also held offers from Oregon, TCU, Nebraska, Ole Miss and several others. His father, Mark, was a second-round draft pick by the Bengals in 2000 out of LSU who would go on to make more than 100 starts in a 10-year NFL career. His mother ran track for the Tigers during that era, as well.

Not to take a backseat to his parents, Ashton is pretty athletic in his own right.

He has posted a 23-plus foot long jump and several sub-22 second 200m times. On the football field, he has made big strides as a route runner and receiver overall. He eats up space in off-coverage, and his smooth, efficient gait looks to surprise defenders trying to cover or chase him. He also appears to have a great understanding of space and timing. I'd imagine that stems from his genes.

Stay tuned. More to come for our TexAgs Premium subscribers.
