My son was a crew chief a number of years ago and I remember that the last tree a crew chops down has significance. The crew member that "felled" the last tree gets to keep the stump.

My son is getting married and I want to do something with part of that stump that's been sitting in my garage for a number of years.

Question is, what is that called? How do you bonfire folks refer to this tradition? I'd like to incorporate the story into a toast at the wedding.

Thanks in advance!!

Not all the crews do that, so it sounds like a crew specific tradition. What crew was he with? You'll probably need to contact them and find out those details. Several crews cut "cookies" off the stump when done which are just cross-cut slices, but those are usually up for grabs to anyone that can convince a brownpot to do it.
