How can I prevent the type of ad that is an file on the screen and not a pop-up?

FWIW I use Safari on a Mac.

Ex: WeatherUnderground. They always have an ad at the top of the screen that is delayed a few seconds before it appears. Inevitably it appears right as I'm about to click a button to view the hourly weather. I realize a second later I'm stairing at some random company website.

PiHole on your home network can help block a lot of junk like that.

Outside on mobile networks and other wofi? Not much unless you want to set up a vpn tunnel to your home network so that even your traffic away from home would flow through PiHole.

I run chrome on a PC, and I use uBlock Origin. I never see ads on sites or YouTube.
