Looking for day trip ideas around Abilene. State parks, good back-road drives, good places to eat (saw Perini Ranch and The Shed on other thread). Thanks.

Drive to Coleman, eat at Rancho Pizzeria?
Edit to add, go to San Angelo, have lunch at Alejandra's on the east side of the square in Ballinger on the way. Tour Ft. Concho in San Angelo. Come back via 277.

If you wind up in San Angelo try out Old Central Firehouse Pizzeria and Taproom. Great pizza and beer.
