As the resident Puerto Rican on the board, I could flash my US Passport.

And I say this as I sit in the airport in Albania, headed for Houston, and I am already thinking about how great it will be to get back here.

I would probably look into the countries of my heritage - Poland and Ireland.

Have some friends who moved to Ireland several years ago and they seem to love it. Although they lean more liberal so Ireland might have some laws that don't bother them that would be deal breakers for me.

Roatan. Currency is U.S. English is primary language, health care improving tremendously, tropical climate, very few negatives.

There's plenty of places in the United States that are relatively shielded from the lunacy of todays world. Get away from cities.

This doesn't work either. There isn't the infrastructure to support a mass exodus from cities and industry to large swaths of rural areas that are completely decentralized. People are running away thinking that alone is the solution.

Friend of mine moved to Columbia and loves it.

Frankly, is probably go for Mexico if I had to. I know a number of expats living in Yucatan and they love it. Brand new condo for $80,000. $20 doctors office visits. Family comes to YOU for vacation. Snorkeling every day if you like.
This is where I'm headed …. Gonna run a dive boat and live the life…won't tell anyone my life savings.. just act like I'm working for a living .. fit in.. lots f Americans living down there now

And I don't have to pay for club seats and NIL anymore!

Win win

Also, I worry about the social isolation of expat life.

If you're in a country with a lot of other expats, it's very social. Easy to make friends.

I lived in SIngapore for 14 years and have been in Australia for 1 year now. I wouldn't mind retiring in Queensland (Australia's Florida), but would prefer SE Asia. I really like Malaysia or Indo (I can speak Bahasa Malaysia and Indonesia). Retiring in SG is not a reality for cost of living reasons and inability to get PR / citizenship. I'd rank Philippines over Thailand due to cultural similarities, however Philippines has a lot of natural disasters.

With the way America is headed what would be the best, safest, most conservative country to live in?

I've always loved the idea of just saying F it and moving away, especially once the kids are grown and moved out.

Having lived and worked overseas, I've already reached the conclusion that I likely won't find a country as awesome as the one we inhabit. The goal then becomes to find my place to "disappear to" in retirement, the place where I can dump social media, get away from hustle, and just live. The options I'm currently considering in no particular order.

1) East Texas. A home on a lake, live life out by the water.
2) Dillon/Keystone/Idaho Springs, CO. Remote. Isolated. Beautiful summers. Brutal winters.
3) Scottsdale. Expensive, but dry, hot weather. Excellent amenities. Close the hustle without being bustle.
4) Maine. A coastal town somewhere. Become old and crusty. Talk at the local breakfast spot about how much better things were "back when".
5) San Diego. Best weather in the world. Laid back attitude, beaches, friendly. Super high property point of entry. Traffic and numbers could be a problem.
6) Idaho. The ultimate off-the-grid fantasy. Load up on guns, die a martyr to the far-right and inspire a horrific anti-government terrorist attack.
7) The Keys. The ultimate beach bum fantasy. Find my love of guitar late in life. Write island songs about parrots, Paris, and alcohol.
8) Vegas. The ultimate desert fantasy. Live life in my beloved dry heat. Cheap real estate, low cost of living, everybody comes to visit me. Try not to somehow die in a Nebraska cornfield.

Wherever it may be, and I'm still 20-25 years from it, the goal is to live quietly, dump social media, and enjoy the gift of each day. I'm lucky to live when and where I live, and I want to maximize the time I have left by being productive physically and mentally.

If I'm forced, gun-to-head, to move outside the U.S., I will give preference to (1) English-speaking countries, (2) warm climates (3) outdoor meccas. That leaves something like:

1. New Zealand
2. Australia
3. Costa Rica
4. Canada

But none of those are my preferred options.

I enjoy my work, it is fun and fulfilling so it's hard to see myself ever stopping currently.

Being a Canadian, Texas will be my first stop after my kids are on their own and I still enjoy my work. So quasi retire 50-55. They're likely making a B-line for Texas as soon as it's up to them. (My wife keeps us all trapped in Canada)

Then I'm going with a yacht/catamaran and will travel in search of paradise. Some islands but I'd rather donthinks like, sail around South America, cross the South Pacific and sail around Japan, China, India, Russia etc….

I honestly do not know what I want to do in retirement. I do know I will always keep my current land and property in my family as it is already a bit of paradise.

I have lived in several different countries and been travelling all over the world for business for more than 20 years. There are few places I haven't been. There are great and unique places to visit, explore, and enjoy all over the world whether it be meeting wonderful people, experiencing different cultures, trying local cuisine, or just seeing the sights.

But if you're looking to move permanently and still need to work, getting a work permit / work visa / permanent residency, or even change your citizenship (like we offer to immigrants here), it really limits your options of where you can go unless your own current company transfers you and sponsors you in your expat deal for years. Many countries just don't allow it or make it very difficult, even if you marry someone from there. If you want retirement and don't need to work long-term in another country, options are still limited, but a few more options may open up.

Then, if you're looking for a "conservative" place - what do you want?

A place that lacks excessive tax and regulations to fund an enormous ever-growing and controlling socialist government? Sorry, but western Europe, Canada, Australia are ever further along that path than we are, even if it feels like our current marxist regime has us marching at a fast pace right now. and so is much of the world. Hungarians have elected a conservative president several times going back over a decade in response to open border immigration invasion invitations across Europe, but Viktor Orban has been vilified globally and his party may lose majority and he'll lose premiership there soon. Argentina just elected an anti-socialist / anti-communist in response to failed socialist government and hyperinflation caused by too much government spending, but Javier Meili is also being vilified globally and may not make it because he's got his own deep state working against him as he tries to make a massive failed government smaller.

..or do you just want a place where society hasn't degenerated so far that god, family, responsibility, hard work / merit, etc. haven't been almost eliminated and the people aren't infected with woke mind virus trying to change the gender of children, crush fetus skulls, and is still safe because they aren't trying to make crimes legal in the name of prison population equity? ...because if you're looking for that, I think you can go to almost any country in the world and just go far enough outside of the big cities.
one safe place
