If you remember KK, you are old.
When I was on the meal plan, that was the place we would go for supper on Sunday evenings. I allocated $5 per week for that one meal when Sbisa was closed.

With Trudy's looking like a no-show, maybe Smitty K's could move into the old Red Lobster.

There's a new sign in the Chicken Oil parking lot (near the door) but I couldn't read it yesterday when I was headed to Pepe's. I'll try to go by today and see what it says.

It says:
Project Financing Provided by Normangee State Bank.

Anyone know what's being built close to Luigi's near the corner of rock prairie and hwy 6? It looks like a stand alone building and not an addition to the shopping center.

Can they put containers of frozen yogurt in those banking vacuum tubes and have a drive thru that works like that?

"I need a cord of $2 bills for grandkid Christmas cards and a small strawberry frozen yogurt please."

It was supposed to be Trudy's out of Austin, but that was announced a couple of years ago.

The only debilitating restaurant fire I can remember is Olive Garden, and that place was totally trashed.
Whataburger on Dominik burned to a pile of rubble in the early 1980s and they rebuilt. That is one reason to have multiple locations in mulitple markets to be able to absorb significant losses.

Fish Daddy's (before it was Fish Daddy's) burned down too.

Rockfish!

I do believe that was Big Daddy's on South College, maybe

But Fish Daddy's (originally Rockfish) on University also burned while in the last stages of renovation after Rockfish failed. Then the footprint pretty much remained, but the new building was built with a lot of architectural elements from Cheddar's which the owners owned at that time.

It had been closed for years at that point. There wasn't an active restaurant there when the fire happened.

Jos'es also burned completely in the 80's when it was on Harvey Road east of Hwy. 6. The backroom looked out onto a park-like meadow. Then it relocated on Texas Ave. In the former Randy Sims Bar-B-Q, our last go-to barbecue restaurant, where it's remained. Jose was a warm, genteel owner and we loved the staff, especially at the original location. 'Course that was all post Zarape's in downtown Bryan.
