Just picked up some tickets for the Buffalo Bayou Brewing open house this Saturday. It is from 12-3 near the galleria. Any of you guys going?

I might go in the near future but this weekend is out for me. I need to spend some time with my family and also have a wine dinner that night. Hopefully I can go in about 2 weeks.

I had Karbach's new Hop Barran on the cask at Hay Merchant last night. Fantastic stout. It might be my favorite Karbach now.

Question about Hay Merchant. How come when I drive by where the address says it is, it has a sign that says Underbelly? Do they share the same building?
10:17a, 5/3/12
Yes. Underbelly is in back to the west, Hay Merchant is in the front to the east.
They might take the lower sign on the pole and make it a Hay Merchant sign. They haven't decided.

They probably should. We were looking to go to Hay Merchant but from what we could tell it was Underbelly and it was packed with a bunch of fancy dressed people. So we figured we had the wrong addy and went somewhere else instead.

Anybody at Petrol for Drinking Made Easy? I couldn't make it but was thinking of swinging by late night if they are still around.

Dang, Steve had to be burning up in that NASA jumpsuit. It was hot as bawls Saturday. Man, I really wish I would have known about them being in town

How was the Buffalo tour?
I've been excited to go but am bummed to see that they don't allow kids. :/

The "tour" was pretty good. When we walked in they had our glasses filled with 1836. They then had applewood aged and white oak aged 1836, their Chai Porter, and finally a Belgian Ale to try.
Think "old school" St. A's style. Sit at picnic tables and drink, and it's hot as balls.

anyone go out to BRC last night for Buffalo Bayou Brewings one-off 'Bacon Chile Jam' brew for BRC?
i wonder if it was good, or an atrocity like the Rogue bacon Voodoo beer.

Went to the BuffBrew tour last weekend. Part of the $10 price includes a glass, but it is a 2 once glass and 4 tickets/tokens. Copper ale is good, but that's about the only beer they make that I liked.

Finally off my 6 week health/fitness plan. (down 13 pounds from when I started)
It's beer time once again!
Stopped by HEB today and picked up a bottle of Great Divide 18th Anniv Wood Aged Double IPA, 2 bottles of St Arnold Homefront, and a sixer of Lazy Magnolia Deep South Pale Ale.
Headed to Specs after that and grabbed some Alaskan IPA and some Tart Lychee to see what all the fuss is about.
looky here, looky here...good times have come my way

I was playing poker with a guy who said this is the best IPA around, anyone had it.
That is my favorite IPA. It has high alcohol content and bitterness yet has a smooth finish. The only thing I don't like about it is the price.
EDIT: I think it matches up well head to head with the gold standard for Imperial IPAs, the 90 minute:

When I went to the open house (a month ago) the owner said he was not sure when he would start.
