Even on normal days HEB is a s-show. HEB customers tend to be super aggressive and yet completely oblivious to others all at the same time.

Do we have any idea yet what the ice risks will be for the roads on Tuesday morning? I would like to think TxDOT will have pretty well de-iced the bridges by then.

They don't de-ice anything. They throw sand down.

You don't live in Minnesota.

Sorry, I did, in fact, mean this when I used that term. Sand and/or chatrock.

The diocese already canceled school Tuesday. If God didn't want us to drive in the cold he wouldn't be sending this cold front.

They said on the news they were using a saline solution on the roads. Might have been just one precinct though.

My money is on them canceling school *at least* Tuesday. Because no one can afford the absence hit.

Panic buying at HEB?? The high on Wednesday is in the 50s!

They pre-spray the bridges with some kind of magnesium based chemical salt to help prevent icing, BUT the rain washes it all away before freezing and becomes just another waste of our tax dollars.

In the same boat. Just need to get regular provisions and maybe a few other items to enjoy the playoff weekend.

Hopefully you and me are only ones with the idea of getting to the store early

Surprise....Surprise

This looks like nothing more than a typical winter cold snap or am I missing something?

Mon - 27/42
Tues - 23/39
Wed - 39/47

With nothing more than a 25% chance of precip Mon

Hardly an icepocalypse

For Houston proper yes, for us NW of Harris county it looks to be pretty nasty. Freezing rain all day Monday with temp below freezing starting Monday morning and not getting up 32 until mid day Wednesday. Not an apocalypse but pretty nasty for a while and will impact travel in my parts.

We shall see though…

That seems pretty much in line with what they've been projecting all week….

Icepocalypse? No. But I also wouldn't say low 20's is your standard houston proper cold snap. But, like everything else, people overreact.

Didn't stop my office from closing on Tuesday. Not that I'm upset about not going in, it's just silly how we overact so far in advance.

Just cold and rainy on Monday. Colder and dry otherwise.

My office is closed on Tuesday and a late start on Wednesday. We look so dumb to everyone else.

Interesting that some of your work places have already said wfh/close on Tuesday. Only way that makes sense to me would be if the local school districts have already announced closures.

And I work down by the coast at that, where its least likely to be any problem at all.

My goal was under 5 hours. Well, I made it in at 4:58. LOL Had to negative split my last 8 miles to get there.

But that did include an emergency duece at Memorial park.

Whichever year it was, I was a Race Crew volunteer at the last water station on Memorial Drive. I was wet, cold, and miserable, and had a terrific good time. It was worth it just to see the elite runners sprint by, doing 4-minute miles (or close to it). And to just be part of the event. Kind of sad when it was time to pack everything up.

How far NW of Harris County are we thinking the conditions become worse?

Can we name cities?

Yeah, the prison museum was quite underwhelming.

I just don't want to be on icy roads with all the people who drive like maniacs up there.

It's been turned into a museum/upscale (for Huntsville) restaurant.

I think HR makes the call and they are the group that act like they are being discriminated against if they have to be in the office more than 1 day a week.

And?

There's nothing going on except cold right now. We're just farting around until the city descends in madness.
