The Grove
Stanleys
Don Juans on the Square
The Patio at Fresh
Lola's (Might be a bit far to drive if you're at the Zoo)
I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting, but those are the top few places I like

Family and I ate at 1836 Texas Kitchen over the weekend while in Tyler for a zoo trip. It was very good. Where else in Tyler should we try? We come to Tyler about 3 or 4 times per year from Marshall.

I've been working on a Top 10 Tacos of Tyler list. Here is what I have so far
1. Panaderia de Nuevo Leon
2. BBQ Hernandez
3. Mi Mexico Lindo
4. Lupitas
5. Rufi's
6. Taco Church (on Wilson St)
7. Los Gueros
8. Stanley's
9. Torchy's
10. Super Mercado Monterrey
The list is fluid, there are a few more places I need to check out.

We need to meet, because this is a solid list! I have a couple on here I haven't even been to, and I'm a "local"

Oh, yippie. That's great. Another place to buy hamburgers on South Broadway. I am so happy. (insert blank stare emoji.)
Why are they building that? And aren't we getting an In & Out down at Cumberland Mall/Center? I don't understand folks sometimes.
I think we are at a breaking point. I'm not a real estate expert and I don't play one on TV, but I don't know that we have the population to support all these places. I would venture that we definitely don't. Just look at all the places that go out of business. Tavolo. Fish City Grill. The freestanding one next to The Diner that was Fuzzy/Torchies Tacos/The Boiling Catch/now Go Go Sushi(?). What about Kabob. Both Smash Burgers. There are many more. I don't get it.

Old Chicago Pizza at the Loop & S. Broadway. They have some pretty good specials - buy one/get one pizza, free appetizers, etc. - if you get on their email coupon list.
Mama's - a hole in the wall across from TJC..
Burger Grind down the Old J'ville Hwy. Get the Missing Link. Some like Jucys better. Either one is a pretty good hamburger.
Pie Five Pizza in front of the Target on S. Broadway. This is good if you have kids. You can each get a pizza made to your specific order.

I agree with you though that we are or did hit our peak food for population. Maybe the Chinese people that will be moving in soon will help.
This guy did himself in. Poured money from one to the other to stay afloat and caused both to go out. Fish city was doing fine.Quote:

Try Mannys Tacos in new shell station on Henderson Hwy--64- someone said he worked at El Charro.

Well if you had Burger Grind in the dead pool, congratulations.
I hear it was sold and will reopen under a different name.
Shame. The Missing Link was my favorite.

Unsurprised about Burger Grind. I'll take Brick Street now. Location is still terrible as is parking.

FYI y'all need to try the "Taco Church" on Wilson street (NW Tyler) it's an old white Church building that now just serves tacos. I think it's only open on the weekends evenings. It doesn't have a name so we just call it Taco Church. Cash only. Spanish only. Didn't see a health permit. But great tacos!

Don't know anyone that eats there. Been in town for almost ten years and have never been there.

There wasn't a Manny that was a brother. I worked at el charro for 7 years. There is a Manny who married one of the daughters but they opened up the el Charro on the ridge.

You don't want to know what's in that dressing haha. I had it at one point... let me see if my mom still has it and I will get back to you.

Oh phew! It is Go Go on S Broadway that closed.
Go Fish has done it right. Small space for seating so it never feels empty. Drive through sushi, that's very accessible from the road.
I'm a big fan of that place.

I drove by Go Fish yesterday, saw the open sign still on and cars parked there and wondered what was going on since this thread said closed.
No surprise Go Go Sushi closed. I don't think I've ever seen a car there.

Had Go Fish for dinner last night. Truly, some of my favorite sushi I've had anywhere!
