Yesterday Toyota dropped a glimpse of the new 4runner on IG.

Some of the YouTubers I watch mentioned a Toyota event next week they were going to. I'm hopeful that's a preview and they can record content to be released soon following the official reveal (similar to the LandCruiser).

I'm very excited for this!

Now I can wait another couple of years then decide between this, Landcruiser, or GX.

Super pumped as will definitely have a good option between the 3.

My YouTube suggested videos list is clogged with frantic new videos about a photo of a rear bumper. It oughtta take a little more than that to send people into a frenzy.

You're right, it "should"…but…are you familiar with the insanity of the 4Runner fanatics?

It is setting up a fascinating choice in that segment for the Toyota fans between the 4Runner, LandCruiser, and the GX.

The limited 4R should be comparably priced with the entry level LC. The LC luxury trim (not the off road one) looks to line up with the pricing on the base level GX.

If it ain't broke…

RIP the 4.0 v6 though. It was a heck of a run from 2005-2024

The 4.0 is not glamorous but a very solid engine.

Other than opinions of being slightly underpowered, I can't think of a single complaint I've heard in terms of reliability

They may be bulletproof, but the 2015 4Runner I had was one of the worst cars I've driven. Uncomfortable seats, rode like hell,
obsolete tech, and horrible gas mileage.

Underpowered = reliability. For Toyota this is a feature not a bug and they have it dialed in.

Saw this on instagram the other day. It's that photo ToyotaUSA released spliced onto the 2024 LandCuiser.

ToyotaUSA has another teaser pic on IG this morning. Looks to have the same front door shape/molding as the Tacoma. I think this is going to have a lot of overlap with the Tacoma, far more than previous generations.

Quote:

A teaser image released by Toyota on Monday shows a close-up of the new 4Runner sporting a "Trailhunter" badge. On the newly revealed Tacoma, this trim sports a host of high-end off-roading upgrades, including 2.5-inch Old Man Emu forged monotube shocks with remote reservoirs, 33-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires, extra ground clearance, reinforced recovery points, skid plates, and a steel rear bumper. Like the outgoing model, it's clear Toyota understands its 4Runner customers will be going off road.

Be interesting to see how much overlap there is on customer base between 4R and LC

Does this mean the current generation of 4 Runners will become reasonably priced?

Last POS 5-speed V6 forever. Will probably worth a billion dollars in 15 years.

Wonder if these are going to end up 1-2 year wait lists like every other anticipated vehicle these days.

But are they ever going to make a vehicle with enough headroom for an adult to fit in? Love what Toyota is doing with their reliability but I've yet to fit in any of their vehicles. My parents and friends have owned 4-runners, sequoia, tundra, avalon, camry, gran highlander and none of them have anywhere close to enough headroom
