100MM and 8 years for some dude from Shakhtar. What could possibly go wrong with that?

Fulham should have a penalty there. Shocked VAR didn't make the ref go to the monitor.
9:27a, 1/15/23
He is going to the monitor. Newcastle have dominated all game. But Fulham could take the lead here
9:32a, 1/15/23
What a moment. VAR finally intervenes. Rightly gives the pen. Fulham convert but it's chalked off for a double hit. Pen taker's plant foot slipped and the ball hit off of it. Insanity.

Eddie Howe has Newcastle playing way above their weight. But it's why they have so many draws rather than wins. They need to start upgrading if they really want to challenge for CL spots.

A tale of two deflections: the double kick on the penalty and the ball bouncing back off the defender to Wilson for the goal
10:20a, 1/15/23
Double touch by the kicker while taking a PK that is not a rebound off the goal.
Ok. Check that box off on the "weird stuff you have never seen soccer Bingo card".

I hadn't even thought about that. No XG contribution.

In a perfect ending to this half Craig Pawson belatedly signals in a vague way that he's calling a PK for a complete dive that he in no way even saw. He then gets told by someone that he's completely blown it and changes his call to "boys walk to the tunnel".

Here comes Richarlison. The ****housery dial just got turned to 12.
Yep. He's on 30 seconds and shoving someone on a free kick.

Yes, Paramount be the name.
But they are both brutal.

Richarlson, couldn't be a better fit for Spurs. Looked like the Lubbock of England there at the end.

I didn't understand how the pen in the Newcastle game was awarded. I didn't watch live but upon seeing the replay Cordova stepped on trippers foot then went down, no?

There was one replay from the opposite side that they rarely showed but showed Trippier banging Cordova's planted leg in the knee. From the primary replay angle, you only see his knee kind of buckle a fraction of a second before the trip. But it buckled due to contact. I thought it was a pen.
Ironically, there was another foul about 10 seconds before that which in real time I thought was a clearer pen than the foul on Cordova tackle. But there never was a replay.

He stepped on Trippiers foot because Trippierr came in too aggressively and ran into Cordova. Trippier fouled him by being overly aggressive.

Richarlison is my most hated player right now, but Antony on Manchester United is up there. He has a VERY punchable face.

The most punchable face belongs to Phil Foden. It's not even close.
ETA. The punchable list.
1. Phil Foden
2. Jordan Pickford.
3. Richarlison
The jackwagon instigator list.
1. Richarlison
2. Bruno (and I say this as a ManU guy)
3. Zaha/Ayew
4. Grealish

That first tackle on Pereira was 100% a flop. Plus the ball hit his hand prior to the challenge. I guess you could make and argument that Trippier hit his plant leg which was the foul but Cordovas plant foot was already stomping on Trippier's foot. After watching it again I think they called it on Trippiers trail leg hitting the back of Cordovas heel.
I think it was a soft pen over all but we are kind of arguing over a moot point since Mitro did a dumb dumb. Just adds to the confusion that you never know what VAR is gonna do.

Maybe not the most punchable but the one that looks like it's been punched into disconfiguration... Steve Cooper.
I mean I wish they would just stop showing the sideline when Nottingham Forest plays. He looks like a Family Guy caricature of what an English person looks like. Prayers for this guy having to walk through life with that mug!

I'll take your word for it as I saw it exactly once from the main camera angle which wasn't great. But the foul on Cordova seemed pretty clear to me.
