Fun friendly today.

Played TAA as a midfielder in the first half and Tsimikas in the 2nd. Trent looked great, Tsimikas less so.

Jota scored two quick goals at the end of the game to win it. Hopefully a sign of big things to come from him.

Szobo and Mac both played and looked really good. They definitely fit the high pressing style we love.

Played a young kid named Quansah at CB today and pushed Gomez to RB. Both played well in those positions. I think Joe might have a nice year playing backup or even starting RB.

Hendo looks to be on his way to SA with Fabhino for a total return of around 53 million...need to buy ourselves a strong energetic lighthouse. Lavia, Doucoure and Sangare are possibilities. Sooner the better.

Any thoughts on who the next captain will be?

https://theathletic.com/4706461/2023/07/22/liverpool-captain-henderson-alexander-arnold-van-dijk/?source=user_shared_article

Vvd is next in line and i think would have been the kbvious choice, Simon Highes is putting forth Trent i tjink because it makes a great story and hell be here for thr next decade. Mo would be my knly other option.

Robbo as captain would be hilarious and chaotic.

Dumb default Apple keyboard instead of SwiftKey not correcting my typos. I actually fixed a couple of them.

I just figured you'd been at the pub watching the WC since 3 this morning.

Hendo is apparently already training with which Saudi club he's joining even though no move has been announced.
jeffk

And now he's announced the move publicly.

Lost to Bayern in Singapore 4-3. Great attacking play but we got lit up on the counter defensively.

Yeah we did.

I really like Ben Doak. Dude just bee lines it for goal at 110 mph every time and he's effective. I think he's going to get some decent game time this year

If we don't pick up at least 1 defensive minded midfielder this will have been a catastrophically bad transfer window despite bringing in good talent and selling aging players for a decent price.

I agree Ag@Rice.

Update on MacAllister. It's a bruised knee and nothing more. He was in pain but could've gone on. No need to risk it.

Good news!

And yeah, we need another mid in a bad way. Pretty confident we'll end up overpaying hugely, but that's the breaks - needing a handful of guys at one position (especially one where teams don't carry a plethora of guys) and also having the Saudi money to compete with is unfortunate.

I'm an idiot but who is on the front on the end next to Gomez?

It looks like Daniel Sturridge. I think that was his last game for the club.

Yep. I forgot he was still on that team. And I didn't notice that was thr Madrid final. Would have made it easier to figure out.

Crazy stuff. They have to sign over all of their image rights as well typically. I'd be fine with that!

For instance, Liverpool don't have Mo's image rights. That's why he is only in a limited number of ads for LFC.

I'm happy for him. Absolutely one of my favorite reds ever and he also seemed humble off the pitch.

Get that money son!

I'm happy for him personally. I really hope he can bounce back from a really uneven stint at Bayern.

Quote:

"Why would I want ten Ferraris, 20 diamond watches, or two planes? What will these objects do for me and for the world? I was hungry, and I had to work in the field; I survived hard times, played football barefooted, I did not have an education and many other things, but today with what I earn thanks to football, I can help my people. I built schools, a stadium, we provide clothes, shoes, food for people who are in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people in a very poor region of Senegal which contributes to their family economy. I do not need to display luxury cars, luxury homes, trips and even planes. I prefer that my people receive a little of what life has given me"
