I'm scared that the MRI on the groin reveals he needs tommy john surgery.

I wonder what body part they'd have to harvest for that

PSA - at Rangers games, stop yelling the word STAR during the National Anthem.

Yes, you do that at Stars games but it sounds dumb at Rangers games.

Old man rant at clouds over.

WTF? Couldn't disagree more

Do you also tell people to take off their rangers hat at Cowboys games?

They've been unreal. The pitching seems like they are hitting a groove.

Yes, but we need more. Preferably some of which need to be over the fence. Is that too much to ask?

Remember when we were a little shocked that the Angels started so well a couple weeks in? Well, they're tied with the Astros now for the 2nd worst record in the AL at 11-20.

They are on a 5-16 skid after their 6-4 start.

They've won 1 series when they swept the hapless Marlins the second series in the season and went 2-2 against the AL East worst Rays in a 4 game series. Have lost or been swept in every other series.

Astros have been playing better and picking up some wins the past several days. Maybe sending Abreau to the minors (and removing that dead spot in the lineup) was the jolt they needed. Plus Verlander was activated from the IL.

How is this remotely the same? I'm also curious why someone would wear a Ranger hat to a Cowboys game, unless the Rangers were playing that day, too.

Yelling STARS at non-Stars game is incredibly dumb.

Of their $177M payroll... with Rendon and Trout on the IL, that's $76M of dead money.

And their farm isn't very good. They are dead last:

https://www.mlb.com/news/farm-system-rankings-2024-preseason

They could have stocked up trading Ohtani, but instead, they blew what few prospects they had on getting people at the deadline.

THEN, in order to get under the Cap (to improve their Comp for Ohtani) they dumped a bunch of players hoping other teams would pick them up.

So damn stupid not to trade Ohtani, but they're such a horribly run franchise that it wasn't surprising.

I suspect the Rangers farm system is about to take a tumble in the rankings, only because Carter and Langford will roll off the list of prospects. We'll probably land somewhere in the teens, maybe even 20ish, so don't be surprised when it happens. It's a good thing when your young players graduate to the big leagues.

Late teens or even twenties sounds about right. A lot of our talent is now at the low and high A level, which isn't a bad thing. The big club is set for a good while, so having talent at the lower levels is probably a good thing.

But other players will get moved up soon. Acker, for instance. Leiter.

It's why I've really warmed up to the idea of picking up some prospects at the deadline, assuming we are relatively healthy on the MLB pitching front.

Rotation today the following days:
Lorenzen: 3GS, 4.24, 17.0 IP
Dunning : 6GS, 4.13, 32.2 IP
JonGray : 6GS, 2.48, 32.2 IP (7G)
A Heaney: 6GS, 5.10, 30.0 IP

Eovaldi: Groing - day-to-day
Scherzer: Rehab. Awaiting 2nd rehab that was delayed

Options for Eovaldi:
Leiter - Maybe
OWhite - on 40
Bullpen day with Urena and Winn going deep.
Cueto - I don't know where he is in onboarding and don't believe he is on the 40.

Mahle and Rocker had their TJs on the same day with Dr. Meister. Rocker seems to be a step ahead of Mahle, but both are just getting going.

Bradford - factured rib? Probably still a month away.

How big was picking up Lorenzen on the cheap?!

I kinda don't want to call up Leiter. Let him get a significant enough amount of innings under his belt while pitching well, and make his next call up, "the" call up.

I would lean towards having Urena making some starts and getting another bullpen arm up.

I'd rather just trade some guys for MLB players at that point. We could use a corner outfield bat with some juice, imo.

Rangers right fielder is like 2 off the major
league lead in Hr's, close to the top in rbis all while hitting in the .290's…. thats juice! Maybe you are wanting to replace LF?

Not really even replace an actual fielder. Just a corner outfield style of bat that you could throw out there every once in a while and have DH.

Sign me up for the unit of man, yes hahaha.

The reason I suggest picking up a corner outfield style of bat is two fold, though. You aren't getting a ton of slug from essentially one and a half (counting Langford as a 1/2) OF spots as of right now. Leody and Langford are giving you nothing in that department at the moment, and even though I have been pleasantly surprised with Carters ability to leave the yard, I don't want to have to rely on him (or Langford for that matter) later in the season or in the playoffs for extra base hits. Subsequently, with Langford being your primary DH right now, you are also getting no slug from that spot either.

So, say you move Carter to CF full time, increase Langford's reps in LF, who's going to DH and relieve Langford in left? Thus, I'd like to get a more proven corner outfield batter to help out and increase our production.

Once Jung comes back, Seager gets rolling and Langford starts popping them, this lineup will have plenty of fire power.

Would it surprise you that Carter has the most single post-season doubles in MLB... at with 72 PA. 2-5 all have most PAs, except 1... who had 71.

He's also still a rookie. I just don't want to have to put the world of pressure on two rookies going into crunch time at the end of the year.
